This job opportunity is not currently available for hiring; however, this requisition was established for candidates to express interest in the above position, with a view to progress formally once we are in a position to do so\nSmith+Nephew seeks an Electrical Engineering Co-Op in the Arthroscopic Enabling Technology business to join the New Product Development Electrical Engineering team and work on edge cutting technologies in the medical visualization industry.\nThe role will allow an enthusiastic individual to contribute to innovative new product development and proof-of-concept projects to help deliver meaningful enhancements to S+N products all with the goal of helping our patients live a Life Unlimited. The ideal candidate is always curious but applies rigor to any problem they choose to solve. The candidate can work independently, but also in full collaboration with other team members. The position will be based in Andover, MA.\nWhat will you be doing?\nThis opportunity will involve working with a small team of Electrical and FPGA Engineers to conduct state-of-the-art research and development of next generation medical products related to sports medicine.\nResponsibilities include:\nDeveloping and testing new product features, for example emerging video standards, latest communication protocols, next generation AI processors, etc.\nAnalyzing circuits for new and existing products\nWorking closely with managers to complete specifically identified internship projects\nPresenting project conclusion to senior leadership\nCreating documentation as required by the Smith + Nephew Quality Management System\nStart Date: May 2027\nProgram Length: 12 weeks\nLocation: Andover, MA\nWhat will you need to be successful?\nEducation:\nEnrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering field at an accredited university.\nMinimum rising junior and has taken some advanced Electrical Engineering courses.\nMajor GPA of 3.50 or above preferred\nExperience:\nPrevious applicable internship/co-op, part-time or apprenticeship experience is preferred.\nSome experience with schematic and/or layout capture of electrical circuits is preferred.\nCompetences:\nStrong grasp of basic circuit theory and fundamental electronic devices\nDesign experience with analog and digital electrical engineering concepts. Projects including embedded systems (microcontroller or FPGA) are preferable\nProficiency with multimeters and oscilloscopes for circuit testing\nBasic understanding and experience with testing electrical or embedded designs\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment\nStrong written and verbal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective work in a cross-functional team environment\nHigh curiosity and analytical approach to problem solving\nWe believe in creating the greatest good for society.
