We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.\nProject Planner Job Purpose:\nThe Construction Project Planner is responsible for the development, monitoring and management of project programmes across multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects. The role will ensure projects are accurately planned, resourced, monitored and reported to support safe, efficient and profitable delivery.\nWorking closely with Pre-Construction Manager, Commercial Manager, Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and Clients, the Planner will create robust construction programmes, identify risks and opportunities, monitor progress against key milestones, efficiently deal with change management, and provide regular reporting to senior management.\nThe role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with contractual obligations.\nResponsibilities for Project Planner - Civil Engineering:\nProject Planning & Programming\nDevelop comprehensive project programmes using industry-standard planning software.\n\nProduce NEC compliant programmes\n\nDetermine scalable outputs for self-delivered works.\n\nProduce tender, construction, target and recovery programmes.\n\nEstablish project critical paths and identify programme risks.\n\nDevelop resource requirements aligned to construction programmes.\n\nPrepare look-ahead programmes\n\nAssist operational teams in sequencing works for optimum productivity.\n\nProgramme Management\nMonitor progress against agreed baselines.\n\nUpdate project programmes using actual site progress information.\n\nAnalyse programme performance and identify delays or slippage.\n\nRecommend mitigation and recovery measures where required.\n\nSupport monthly project reviews through accurate programme reporting.\n\nTrack key milestones and contractual completion dates.\n\nSite & Operational Support\nAttend site visits and project progress meetings.\n\nWork collaboratively with Contracts Managers and Site Teams.\n\nProvide planning support for complex groundworks and civil engineering packages.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve productivity and project efficiencies.\n\nSupport mobilisation and sequencing of plant, labour and subcontract resources.\n\nReporting\nProduce weekly and monthly programme reports.\n\nGenerate progress updates for senior management and clients.\n\nPresent programme performance at operational review meetings.\n\nProvide earned value and progress analysis where required.\n\nMaintain programme dashboards and KPI reporting systems.\n\nCommercial & Contractual Support\nAssist Commercial Teams with extension of time submissions.\n\nProvide supporting programme evidence for contractual claims.\n\nDemonstrate the impact of variations and compensation events.\n\nSupport dispute avoidance through robust programme management.\n\nMonitor and report programme-related commercial risks.\n\nTender & Pre-Construction Support\nAssist estimating and bid teams in developing tender programmes.\n\nReview proposed construction methodologies.\n\nAssess construction durations and resource requirements.\n\nProvide planning input during bid submissions and client presentations.\n\nPreparing phasing plans, logistic plans, and methodology statements to support tender submissions.\n\nSupport project handovers from pre-construction into operations.\n\nTypical Project Types\nThe successful candidate will provide planning support for:\nHousing infrastructure projects\n\nGroundworks\n\nRoads and sewers works\n\nEarthworks and bulk excavation\n\nDrainage and utilities\n\nCommercial developments\n\nIndustrial developments\n\nRetaining structures\n\nPublic realm works\n\nGround remediation projects\n\nCivil engineering\n\nSkills & Experience for Project Planner -
