Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.\n This position will require travel to the UK for a minimum of 2 weeks for training.\nThe Applications Engineer-Couplings is responsible for providing technical expertise and application support for the company's coupling product portfolio. This role works closely with customers, OEM's, distributors, EPC's, and internal stakeholders to ensure proper product selection, solve complex application challenges, and support successful project execution. The Applications Engineer serves as a technical resource throughout the customer lifecycle, from specification and design through installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.\nResponsibilities include but not limited to the following:\nEvaluate customer applications and operating conditions to recommend appropriate coupling technologies and configurations.\nReview equipment data including power requirements, torque, speed, shaft separation, misalignment, service factors, and environmental conditions to ensure proper coupling selection.\nPrepare technical proposals, quotations, engineering calculations, and application documentation supporting sales opportunities.\nServe as the primary technical resource for sales teams, distributors, OEM's, end users, and inside team regarding coupling products and applications.\nReview customer specifications and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and project requirements.\nProvide engineering support for custom coupling designs, special applications, and retrofit opportunities.\nCollaborate with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to address technical questions and support project execution.\n Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required\nPrefers a minimum of 3 years’ experience in rotating equipment, couplings, drivetrain systems, power transmission, industrial equipment, or reliability engineering experience.\nStrong understanding of mechanical power transmission principles, shaft alignment, vibration, torque transmission, and rotating equipment reliability.\nAbility to perform engineering calculations involving product sizing, torque, speed, horsepower, moment loading, and service factor requirements.\nProficiency with ERP, engineering software, and Microsoft Office applications.\nExcellent analytical and customer-facing skills.\nEffective communication skills both verbal and written.\nExperience working in a diverse environment with a global company is a plus.\n All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.\nWe believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish.
