Engineering Intern

The internship position is an opportunity for an Engineering student to gain real world and hands on experience in a manufacturing environment, while benefiting STS Aerospace. The purpose of this internship is to develop a standardized template and produce operator-friendly visual work instructions for equipment used in the production of aerospace products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include: Other duties may be assigned.

• Collaboratively works with engineering team members to complete technical tasks associated with Product Configuration, New Product Development, Product Design, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering functions.
• Utilizes a combination of measurement techniques, data collection, analysis, critical thinking, and software skills to provide insight and engineering solutions.
• Familiar with engineering analysis, calculations, and computational tools. Ability to understand engineering theory and develop analysis tools.
• May work with Operational team members to address test and manufacturing processes, equipment, operator safety, tooling, procedures, and work instructions.
• Reviews and checks engineering calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for technical content, errors, notes, accuracy, functionality, and completion.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives and completion of implementation activities.
• Must be coachable, goal orientated, self-starter, and excel independently or in a collaborative environment.
• Consistently, regularly, and predictably at work and on time.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualification/Requirements:

• Graduate student, Senior, or Junior in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science.
• Strong academic / analytical modeling.
• Able to develop mathematical theory validated with actual test results.
• Strong programing, Excel or Google Sheets background.
• Strong Material Science knowledge.

Education and/or Experience

Currently enrolled in four-year technical degreed program from a college or university. Academic transcript required upon application submittal.
