Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.\n The Service Technician will be supporting the Customer Reliability Engineer (CRE) at site as well as responsible for the refurbishment of mechanical seals and associated activities in a highly professional seal repair environment.\nSPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:\nDo daily equipment inspections, identify issues that can affect reliability, safety and environment.\nSupport the reliability engineer in failure reporting and Root Cause Analysis investigations.\nIdentify and recommend training needs (maintenance and operations) to the reliability engineer.\nDismantling and cleaning of mechanical seals and parts under repair.\nInspection of mechanical seals and cartridges.\nPrepare breakdown of parts required for the repair in accordance with the seal repair SOP procedures.\nAssemble and repair mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane drawings and specifications.\nTesting of mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane procedures.\nManage local inventory of seal spares for both contractual repairs.\nEnsures quality & safety within functions/ tasks performed by himself/herself.\nResponsible for exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization.\nEnsures compliance with applicable QHSE instructions, requirements, laws, and regulations imposed by customers, regulatory bodies, and statutory authorities.\nKnowledge of seal failure modes is an advantage.\n Education/Training: Diploma or University degree in Engineering or relevant vocational technical qualification.\nExperience: 3+ years of professional experience in proactive multinational & multicultural environment.\nKnowledge/Skills:\nAbility to understand component and assembly drawings.\nKnowledge of rotating equipment operational principles and troubleshooting.\nAPI knowledge\nComputer literate in MS Office. SAP knowledge will be an advantage.\nExcellent written and verbal business communication.\nKnowledge of labor reporting, work order variances, SAP, or equivalent ERP systems.\nMinning industry knowledge is an advantage.\nLanguages: English.
