Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance
- Prepare federal taxable income calculations and supporting schedules for corporate income tax filings
- Gather and review state tax data from controllers; analyze for reasonableness and year-over-year consistency
- Coordinate with external compliance providers to ensure accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns
- Calculate and monitor quarterly estimated tax payments, ensuring timely and accurate submission
- Prepare and manage miscellaneous tax filings (e.g., withholding tax returns, tax residency certificates, FinCEN reporting)
2. Tax Provision & Reporting
- Prepare and review the U.S. income tax provision (ASC 740 or IFRS IAS 12), including current and deferred tax calculations
- Validate tax payable balances and deferred tax accounts
- Calculate and analyze the effective tax rate (ETR) and provide explanations to the parent company
- Perform quarterly tax account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Partner with the Controller and accounting team to ensure accurate financial data and proper recording of tax journal entries
3. Tax Advisory & Business Support
- Support the Tax Director on special projects, tax planning initiatives, and strategic matters
- Collaborate with external tax advisors on technical issues, transactions, and structuring considerations
- Provide ongoing guidance to finance and business teams on tax-related questions and impacts
4. Tax Controversy & Notices
- Manage federal and state tax audits, including timely and complete responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs)
- Handle tax notices and inquiries, resolving discrepancies with tax authorities
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support ongoing compliance readiness
5. Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, and efficiency
- Leverage tax technology and automation tools to streamline compliance and reporting
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and initiative to challenge the status quo and enhance the tax function

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Master's in Taxation or equivalent preferred
- 5-8+ years of corporate tax experience (Big 4 and/or industry)
- Strong knowledge of:
- U.S. federal and state corporate income tax
- ASC 740 and/or IFRS IAS 12 (tax provision)
- Experience managing external service providers and compliance processes
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
