Candidate will need to guide/assist individuals as they evaluate the overall cyber security posture and develop security monitoring solutions for countering emerging threats. The right candidate will contribute to detecting and mitigating security threats by leveraging the provided security tools to ensure quality and timely delivery of our customers' managed security services. This is a remote position supporting a Herndon, Viriginia based team.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nDevelop, implement, and continually improve system and network security monitoring capabilities and procedures\nMonitor, triage, and notify our clients of potential security incidents and tune sensors and queries to reduce false positives\nImplement endpoint security agent policies and rules to meet defensive objectives\nSupport operational threat analysis based upon log correlation and endpoint security tools\nSupport contingency and incident response activities\nDevelop monthly and quarterly reports based upon system and network monitoring and alerting capabilities\nRecommend improvements; maintain/monitor production and non-production systems to ensure customer data is protected from unauthorized access\nWrite knowledge base documents to improve operations, SOP and contribute to overall organization improvements\nRequired Skills and Experience:\nAbility to lead and coordinate efforts in small working teams\nAbility and willingness to continually learn and enhance capabilities\nAbility to communicate verbally and in writing from a technical perspective\nAbility to collaborate with customer stakeholders regarding security capabilities versus threat actor techniques\nDemonstrable understanding of common enterprise applications, infrastructure, and security technologies\nAbility to analyze emerging cyber security threats and applicability to customer environments\nProactive, self-motivated target driven for service delivery\nAbility to work within a team\nSkills in presenting and communicating with customers\n4 year degree focused on Cybersecurity or Computer Science\nMust possess 2+ years cyber security or cloud experience, with a preference for supporting a Security Operations Center\nExperience with Unix, Linux or Windows operating systems; comfortable on the command line interface\nCloud or virtualization experience is preferred but not requireExperience with advanced endpoint security tools and their use to counter malicious threat actors\nExperience performing security incident response, incident analysis, and incident handling\nScripting language experience is preferred by not required\nCISSP, CEH, CASP or additional security certifications are preferred but not required\nAdditional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree\nMust possess the ability to obtain a Public Trust and DoD security clearance\n#LI-SA\nThe SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
