The company develops Specs, advanced eyewear that seamlessly integrates digital experiences into the physical world.\nSpecs feature see-through lenses that place digital objects directly into three-dimensional space, powered by Snap OS, a proprietary, context-aware operating system designed for natural interaction with your hands and voice.\nSpecs Inc. also provides Lens Studio, a full suite of advanced developer tools that powers immersive augmented reality experiences across Specs, Snapchat, and other services.\nWe’re looking for a Computational Imaging Engineer to join the SPECS team!\nWhat you’ll do:\nDevelop image signal processing (ISP) pipelines for next generation computational imaging platforms\nFacilitate cross-functional collaboration across optics, sensors, computer vision, and compute teams\nInfluence key architectural decisions and drive consensus on critical trade-offs\nDevelop test methodologies and characterization plans for camera ISP performance\nLead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for sensor performance issues\nTravel up to 15%\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nKnowledge optics and camera systems for imaging, depth mapping, and biometric sensing\nKnowledge of image quality and ISP pipelines\nSkills with software development and data analysis (e.g., C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.)\nSkills leveraging AI models to accelerate engineering workflows and software development\nAbility to work independently and manage internal and external resources\nAbility to consider system level impacts and tradeoffs in a highly constrained platform\nAbility to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.\nAbility to collaborate and operate in a fast-paced cross-functional environment including engineering teams, vendors, suppliers, and outside resource management.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related field\n2+ years of experience in computational imaging for computer vision applications\nExperience with computational imaging, computer vision, and machine learning for image processing\nExperience developing and optimizing ISP and machine learning algorithms for camera products\nExperience with non-traditional image sensors including: single photon detectors (e.g. SPADs, jots, SiPMs, etc.), event sensors, neuromorphic sensors, etc.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPhD or master’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related field\n4+ years of experience in designing robust computer vision algorithms for consumer electronics platforms\nExperience building camera systems for AR/VR, wearables, or mobile platforms\nExperience developing end-to-end camera ISP pipelines designed for edge and/or distributed compute platforms\nExperience developing for event based processing\nExperience with depth mapping and direct time of flight (dTOF) depth measurement systems\nExperience designing algorithms for pixel and sensor level logic\n\"Default Together\" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.
