The company develops Specs, advanced eyewear that seamlessly integrates digital experiences into the physical world.\nSpecs feature see-through lenses that place digital objects directly into three-dimensional space, powered by Snap OS, a proprietary, context-aware operating system designed for natural interaction with your hands and voice.\nSpecs Inc. also provides Lens Studio, a full suite of advanced developer tools that powers immersive augmented reality experiences across Specs, Snapchat, and other services.\nWe're looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to join the SPECS team and work on our next-generation of SPECS.\nWhat you’ll do:\nPartner with Engineering, Technical Operations, and contract manufacturers to ensure product meets factory yield targets.\n\nCoordinate defect resolution with engineering technical operations, and contract manufacturers.\n\nDevelop and maintain documentation on failure analysis procedures, repair procedures, best practices, and lessons learned.\n\nPerform detailed failure analysis on manufacturing failures, including PCB board-level, device level, and FW debugging to identify the root cause and resolution.\n\nProvide yield reports, defect pareto data, action plans, and escalations for functional performance quality.\n\nMentor, train, and lead contract manufacturers on failure analysis, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution.\n\nDefine or develop tools and fixtures that are required for Spectacles and board-level failure analysis\n\nCollaborate with Electrical Design team to support hardware performance validation and hardwareproblem solving.\n\nCollaborate with Factory Test and Reliability teams to validate Factory Test effectiveness through circuit analysis or inducing defects and validating test processes.\n\nProvide guidance on or Design-for-Repairability, Design-for-Manufacturability.\n\nProvide status reports and present data on yields, defects, and resolutions to senior leadership team.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nStrong understanding of electronic and components and PCB design, and manufacturing process\n\nProficient with reading schematic designs, familiarity with schematic capture, gerber files, etc.\n\nKnowledge and failure analysis experience in acoustics, cameras, displays, RF (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc)\n\nFamiliar with use of failure analysis equipment e.g. microscope, oscilloscope, multimeter, OMM, etc\n\nExperience with consumer electronics tear down and assembly process. Experience in root cause analysis due to non-conforming materials or assembly process related functional failures such as B2B connection, ZIF connection, flex crack, part damage, electrical shorts, poor assembly\n\nExperience in analysis methods e.g. X-ray, CT Scan, SEM, FTIR, cross-section etc\n\nFamiliar with PCB/SMT failure modes such as solder shorts, BGA head-in-pillow soldering failures, etc\n\nFamiliar with Six Sigma or statistical methodologies\n\nExperience scripting spreadsheets, Big Query or SQL, Looker Studio reports, or other programming or data processing tools\n\nProficient in written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field\n\n7+ years in electronics manufacturing or related field for IPC 610 Class II products (dedicated consumer electronics)\n\nAbility to work on-site at Taipei manufacturing site 35%+ (during active bills must be on-site, commutable distance from Quanta)\n\nAbility to travel to US, China, Thailand 10%+ of the time\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMasters in engineering, FW or related field\n\n10+ years in electronics manufacturing or related field\n\nSix Sigma green belt or black belt certification\n\nIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.\n\"Default Together\" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration.
