Our team builds the software and computer-vision pipelines that calibrate Specs. We're hiring our first on-site hardware engineer to own the calibration lab's fixtures, targets, lighting, and camera rigs, and to be the bridge between our local software/CV team and our remote mechanical and electrical teams.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn the calibration lab hardware: fixtures, targets, lighting, and camera rigs\nDesign and build fixtures, jigs, and simple mechanisms (CAD, 3D printing, machine shop)\nBuild prototype circuits and wiring; integrate sensors, lighting, and triggers\nIntegrate off-the-shelf components into stable, repeatable calibration stations\nBring up and accept new stations and vendor-built equipment\nCharacterize station repeatability and fix drift when it appears\nRoot-cause hardware issues locally; escalate to remote ME/EE with clear data\nRead and modify the Python scripts that drive lab hardware\nDefine requirements for, and review deliverables from, remote ME/EE teams\nDocument setups and procedures; manage vendors, parts, and lab upkeep\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nStrong mechanical fundamentals: CAD, manufacturing drawings, tolerancing and GD&T, fixtures and jigs, 3D printing\nPractical electrical skills: prototype circuits, wiring, sensors, DAQ; debugs power and signal chains with a multimeter and oscilloscope\nHands-on integration and debug of systems combining mechanical, electrical, cameras, and robot arms\nDefines requirements and reviews and accepts deliverables from other engineering teams\nCommunicates clearly with remote hardware teams and local software engineers\nReads and modifies Python scripts; production-grade code not required\nPractical, data-driven, and comfortable with shifting priorities\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBS/BA in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience\n3+ years of industry experience building and maintaining lab or test hardware\nProduces CAD models and manufacturing drawings independently\nHas designed, toleranced, and built fixtures, jigs, or mechanisms, including 3D-printed parts\nBuilds prototype circuits and wiring; troubleshoots power and signal issues with standard lab equipment\nAble to read and modify Python scripts\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMS in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field\nComputer-vision or optics knowledge\nExperience with opto-mechanical systems\nExperience with small, highly toleranced components and assemblies\nTest-station development, debug, and support\nSimple board design taken through outsourced fabrication\nExperience programming industrial robot arms (e.g., KUKA, ABB) using vendor toolkits\nMeasurement system analysis (repeatability, Gage R&R)\nBackground in AR/VR, wearables, or consumer hardware\nIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.\n\"Default Together\" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration.
