This team owns critical warehouse capabilities spanning features, billing, and usability across the warehouse experience. Warehouses are one of the most mission-critical parts of Snowflake’s platform and a major revenue driver for the company, making this an opportunity to work on high-impact systems at significant scale.\nDespite the UX pod name, this is not a front-end role. This team builds backend distributed systems that power warehouse behavior, customer-facing warehouse capabilities, metering and billing-related functionality, and the reliability and usability of core warehouse workflows.\nThis role is best suited for an engineer with 4 to 7 years of experience who can independently drive medium-sized projects end to end, contribute effectively to larger cross-team efforts, and bring strong technical judgment to systems that matter deeply to customers and the business.\nAS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:\nDesign, build, test, deploy, and operate backend software and distributed systems that power Snowflake Warehouses.\n\nOwn medium-sized engineering projects independently from design through delivery, and contribute to larger initiatives across the warehouse organization.\n\nBuild and evolve capabilities related to warehouse features, billing, and usability.\n\nImprove the reliability, scalability, performance, and operational health of warehouse systems in production.\n\nWork across the full software lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, testing, rollout, on-call participation, issue triage, and follow-through on production improvements.\n\nPartner closely with engineers, product managers, and adjacent teams to deliver durable solutions to customer and business problems.\n\nMake thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, maintainability, and long-term architectural health.\n\nUse strong debugging and systems thinking to resolve complex production issues and improve service behavior over time.\n\nRaise the bar through design reviews, code reviews, operational rigor, and clear technical communication.\n\nApply AI-assisted workflows where they increase engineering leverage, speed, or quality without compromising judgment.\n\nOUR IDEAL SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:\nBS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n4 to 7 years of professional software engineering experience.\n\nStrong programming, debugging, and software design skills in one or more modern languages.\n\nExperience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production.\n\nAbility to independently execute on medium-sized projects and deliver them to completion.\n\nAbility to contribute as a strong technical partner on larger, cross-team projects.\n\nSolid understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering best practices across design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.\n\nExperience participating in on-call, production support, or incident response for live systems.\n\nStrong communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego working style.\n\nA customer-oriented mindset and good judgment about reliability, usability, and business impact.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.\n\nExperience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, or large-scale backend services.\n\nExperience working on billing, metering, control plane systems, or customer-facing platform capabilities.\n\nFamiliarity with performance-sensitive or highly reliable production environments.\n\nComfort navigating ambiguity and breaking down complex technical problems into practical solutions.\n\nSnowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth.
