This is a unique hybrid role: you will lead a team of forward-deployed engineers who work directly with customers and partners on complex migration projects while simultaneously driving the development of AI-powered migration tools and products. Your team will be the bridge between field realities and product innovation - turning hard-won migration patterns into scalable, automated solutions.\nAS A MANAGER, MIGRATIONS YOU WILL:\nTeam Leadership & People Management\nManage and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, providing clear feedback, identifying strengths, and developing growth paths\n\nRecruit, hire, and onboard future team members, setting them up for success in both customer-facing delivery and engineering contributions\n\nFoster a culture of creativity, innovation, and practical decision-making across delivery and engineering workstreams\n\nSupport engineers in their career development, growing both technical delivery leads and engineering leaders\n\nCustomer Delivery & Project Execution\nProvide strategic oversight for migration projects, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and company goals\n\nLead teams executing complex migrations from legacy systems (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, etc.) to the Snowflake platform\n\nAct as the primary escalation point for delivery concerns, working closely with customers and system integrators\n\nMaintain a hands-on presence on strategic projects, leveraging your technical expertise to assess quality and unblock teams\n\nCollaborate with sales teams to scope opportunities, develop proposals, and ensure effective account strategy execution\n\nEngineering & Product Build\nDrive the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered migration tools and products based on real-world customer needs\n\nGuide the team through an evolving AI ecosystem to build AI-first products - including code translation, developer co-pilots, and semantic validation\n\nTranslate field insights and customer requirements into engineering roadmap items and product improvements\n\nCollaborate with Engineering and Product Management organizations to align on priorities and deliver high-quality solutions\n\nEncourage the development and sharing of best practices, utilities, and accelerators that streamline migrations and feed back into product\n\nCross-Functional Impact\nWork with organizational leaders to influence GTM strategies, leading initiatives and improvements across Sales and Engineering\n\nFacilitate knowledge sharing and cross-team learning between field engineers and product engineering teams\n\nPresent to both technical and executive audiences, articulating migration strategies, product vision, and business outcomes\n\nOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:\nUniversity degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields (or equivalent experience)\n\n7+ years of experience in technical roles involving customer-facing delivery, engineering\n\n5+ years of people management experience - mentoring, coaching, and developing technical teams\n\n3+ years of experience building and delivering enterprise software products, particularly involving AI/ML or developer tools\n\nDemonstrated success leading teams through complex data platform migrations and cloud transformation projects\n\nStrong foundation in databases, data warehouses, and data processing - hands-on experience with large-scale systems (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, Greenplum, Hadoop)\n\nDeep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the complete data analytics stack (ETL, data platform design, BI/analytics tools)\n\nFamiliarity with data integration/transformation tools (Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Matillion, dbt) and BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Business Objects)\n\nExtensive hands-on expertise with SQL, SQL analytics, and scripting (Python, Perl, Bash)\n\nResourceful, data-driven, strong partners, and able to step in as PM, program manager, or architect when needed\n\nHiring and growing the team, technical leadership (including for staff+ engineers), driving projects from idea to production, and partnering across teams and with customers\n\nStrong experience scoping engagements - developing delivery estimates, proposals, and project plans\n\nOutstanding presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences\n\nSnowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth.
