The position supports the reliability, availability, security, and performance of multi-site infrastructure, including network, server, endpoint, backup, security, and related technology environments. Responsibilities include infrastructure optimization, network security, vulnerability management, technical documentation, infrastructure lifecycle planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity.\nThe position provides advanced technical expertise in the identification, investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex infrastructure and security issues, and participates in the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing improvement of infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions. It provides technical recommendations to the Director, Information Services regarding infrastructure and security risks, requirements, priorities, and technology investments, and works collaboratively with Information Services team, organizational stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to ensure infrastructure and security technologies are implemented and maintained in accordance with organizational requirements, established standards, policies, procedures, and security practices.\nThe IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP), while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community and contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning, and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES\nIT Infrastructure Operations & Administration 30%\nAdministers, maintains, monitors, and supports SNP’s multi-site IT infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, VPN, wired and wireless networks, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, virtualization, and related infrastructure technologies;\nSupports the ongoing availability, performance, reliability, and security of infrastructure services and works toward established service availability objectives;\nPerforms advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of hardware, software, network, server, storage, connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues;\nPlans and performs infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and lifecycle activities;\nSupports the full lifecycle of infrastructure hardware and technology, including assessment, procurement, configuration, deployment, maintenance, refresh, replacement, and decommissioning;\nMaintains accurate configuration information, technical records, system inventories, service documentation, and network topology diagrams;\nMonitors infrastructure environments and investigates performance, capacity, availability, and operational issues;\nSupports the administration and maintenance of endpoint and device management technologies;\nMaintains and applies infrastructure standards, configuration standards, technical guidelines, and operational procedures;\nIdentifies opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency; and\nPrioritizes and coordinates technical work based on operational requirements, risk, impact, and organizational priorities.\nOther related duties, as required\nInformation Security & Cybersecurity 25%\nImplements, maintains, and supports technical security controls designed to protect organizational systems, networks, devices, applications, and data;\nMonitors and investigates security events, alerts, vulnerabilities, and other indicators of potential security incidents;\nParticipates in the identification, assessment, prioritization, and remediation of infrastructure and cybersecurity risks;\nLeads or performs technical activities associated with cybersecurity incident response, investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery, with accountability to the Director, Information Services;\nAdministers and supports security technologies, configurations, policies, and controls across infrastructure and endpoint environments;\nPerforms or coordinates vulnerability identification, remediation, patch management, and security hardening activities;\nReviews infrastructure configurations and technology implementations to identify security weaknesses and recommends appropriate mitigation measures;\nSupports the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical security standards, procedures, and controls;\nWorks with third-party security providers, vendors, and service providers on security-related investigations, remediation, and technical issues;\nProvides technical input into organizational risk assessments and cybersecurity planning;\nMaintains awareness of emerging infrastructure and cybersecurity threats and evaluates their potential impact on the organization;\nProvides technical recommendations to the Director, Information Services regarding cybersecurity risks, priorities, controls, and investments; and\nSupports the ongoing improvement of SNP’s overall cybersecurity posture.\nOther related duties, as required\nInfrastructure Architecture, Projects & Technology Implementation 20%\nParticipates in and provides technical leadership for the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing improvement of infrastructure solutions;\nEvaluates existing and emerging technologies and provides technical recommendations based on organizational requirements, security, scalability, reliability, supportability, and cost;\nLeads or participates in infrastructure and security technology projects from technical planning through implementation and operational transition;\nDevelops technical requirements, implementation plans, configuration standards, testing plans, and technical documentation for infrastructure initiatives;\nDesigns and implements infrastructure changes that support institutional and Information Services priorities;\nEvaluates infrastructure capacity, lifecycle requirements, and technology dependencies and provides recommendations regarding upgrades, replacement, and future requirements;\nSupports the implementation and maintenance of network security architecture, including firewalls, segmentation, secure connectivity, and related controls;\nSupports the planning, implementation, and maintenance of server, storage, virtualization, cloud, endpoint, and other infrastructure technologies as applicable;\nCoordinates technical activities with internal Information Services team and external vendors or service providers;\nPerforms technical testing and validation of new or modified infrastructure and security solutions prior to production implementation;\nEnsures technical changes are appropriately documented and implemented in accordance with established change-management processes; and\nIdentifies opportunities to automate technical processes and improve the efficiency, consistency, and reliability of infrastructure operations.\nOther related duties, as required\nDisaster Recovery, Business Continuity & Technical Resilience 15%\nSupports the development, maintenance, testing, and execution of IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans;\nMaintains and tests infrastructure backup, recovery, and restoration processes;\nSupports the ongoing availability and recoverability of critical infrastructure services;\nParticipates in disaster recovery exercises and documents results, issues, recommendations, and required remediation activities;\nInvestigates infrastructure failures and develops recommendations to improve resiliency and recovery capabilities;\nSupports the identification of infrastructure dependencies, recovery requirements, risks, and recovery priorities;\nPerforms technical recovery activities during infrastructure outages, service disruptions, and other operational incidents;\nEnsures recovery procedures and technical documentation remain accurate and current;\nIdentifies single points of failure and recommends appropriate redundancy, resiliency, or mitigation strategies; and\nProvides technical information and recommendations to the Director, Information Services to support continuity and resilience planning.\nOther related duties, as required\nTechnical Support, Documentation & Continuous Improvement 10%\nProvides advanced technical support and escalation assistance for complex infrastructure, network, server, endpoint, and security-related issues;\nProvides technical guidance and knowledge transfer to Information Services team regarding infrastructure, security technologies, troubleshooting techniques, standards, and procedures;\nActs as a technical resource for complex issues that require specialized infrastructure or cybersecurity knowledge;\nWorks collaboratively with Information Services team and organizational stakeholders to diagnose issues and develop effective technical solutions;\nCoordinates with vendors and external service providers to investigate and resolve complex technical issues;\nMaintains accurate technical documentation, procedures, configurations, diagrams, inventories, and knowledge resources;\nCollects, validates, and maintains relevant operational, infrastructure, security, service, and performance data to support the development and ongoing refinement of an Information Services department-wide metrics framework;\nDevelops and maintains technical procedures and operational standards for infrastructure and security technologies;\nIdentifies opportunities to improve processes, controls, documentation, automation, service reliability, and operational efficiency;\nSupports the development and implementation of Information Services policies, procedures, standards, and technical practices related to infrastructure and security;\nMaintains service records, change records, technical logs, and other required documentation in accordance with SNP policies and procedures;\nProvides technical reports, analysis, and recommendations to the Director, Information Services as required; and\nOther related duties, as required.\nEDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE\nCompletion of a formal post-secondary/college program of one to two academic year(s) in Network Administration, computer science or similar technical program is required; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.\nEXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE\nOver 3 years and including 5 years of experience with network administration, security, and/or disaster recovery; Experience using ERP/SIS/LMS systems preferred; Demonstrated competencies in strategic thinking, coordination, analysis and change management; Proven capacity to develop technical solutions within the confines of operating guidelines, budgets and policy;
