If you’re highly organised, enjoy problem-solving and thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.\nWe are seeking a proactive, reliable and flexible Scheduler to support the planning and coordination of field-based water quality monitoring and sampling activities. This role offers remote working, with occasional days in our Leeds office. You’ll work closely with field teams, Project Managers, Water Quality management, clients and laboratories to ensure work is scheduled efficiently and delivered within required timescales.\nYou’ll be responsible for creating work packages, coordinating field team schedules and routes, preparing site information and ensuring that access arrangements, permits and traffic management requirements are in place before fieldwork begins. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while adapting to changing requirements. Experience in scheduling, databases or spreadsheets would be beneficial, alongside an interest in water quality, environmental monitoring or utilities.\nThe tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):\nPlanning and scheduling water quality monitoring and sampling activities across client projects.\n\nCreating work packages, daily schedules and efficient routes for field-based teams to maximise resources and minimise unnecessary travel.\n\nPreparing maps, site information, trackers and field documentation to ensure teams have the information they need to carry out their work.\n\nCoordinating site access, permissions, traffic management and permits ahead of scheduled fieldwork.\n\nLiaising with field teams to communicate schedules, site requirements and any changes to planned activities.\n\nCoordinating monitoring and sampling activities, equipment deployment and follow-up visits.\n\nSupporting urgent and emergency sampling requirements where necessary.\n\nMaintaining accurate databases, spreadsheets, maps, trackers and project information.\n\nWorking closely with Project Managers, Water Quality management, laboratories and clients to support the successful delivery of monitoring programmes.\n\nMonitoring progress, resolving scheduling and logistical issues, and escalating concerns where appropriate.\n\nSupporting new project set-up, ongoing project administration and continuous improvements to planning systems and processes.\n\nWorking in accordance with SOCOTEC’s health, safety, quality, environmental and confidentiality requirements.\n\n To be a successful Scheduler, you should be able to demonstrate:\nStrong organisational and planning skills, with a methodical approach to managing multiple activities and deadlines.\n\nExcellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.\n\nGood IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Access, with experience using databases, spreadsheets or scheduling systems.\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.\n\nA logical and proactive approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to respond to changing priorities.\n\nThe ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.\n\nFlexibility and resilience when working under pressure and managing competing demands.\n\nGood geographical awareness and the ability to plan efficient routes for field-based teams.\n\nA positive ‘Can Do’ attitude and a commitment to quality, safety and confidentiality.\n\nGCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above, or equivalent.\n\nIf you’re an organised and motivated individual who enjoys bringing people, schedules and resources together, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to important environmental monitoring programmes.
