You will partner closely with People Operations, Finance, Enterprise Engineering, Security, and external vendors to establish technical roadmaps, uphold architectural standards, and deliver reliable data integrations at scale.\nWe are looking for an experienced technical leader who pairs deep Workday technical expertise with people-first leadership. In this role, you will foster an inclusive environment where engineers thrive, remove operational roadblocks, champion data integrity, and guide your team through complex technical problem solving with a founder’s mindset.\nWhat you’ll do:\nLead and mentor a high-performing engineering team responsible for Workday HCM, Financial Management, Payroll, and the broader Workday technical ecosystem, balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management\nDefine and execute the Workday technical roadmap, architecture standards, engineering principles, and platform modernization strategy aligned with business priorities and enterprise architecture.\nTranslate department priorities into clear sprint goals, integration specifications, and project roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery while managing operational dependencies.\nDesign, develop, and maintain secure, resilient, and reusable integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, APIs, and enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft.\nEstablish standards for technical design, peer reviews, automated testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, incident management, and production support to improve reliability and maintainability.\nOwn production support and incident management for the integration landscape; guide root-cause investigations, conduct blameless post-mortems, and drive preventative enhancements.\nManage third-party vendor relationships and service integrations (e.g., benefits administrators, financial platforms), ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) and strict data privacy compliance.\nLead semi-annual Workday release testing and regression cycles, proactively identifying new capabilities (such as Workday Extend or Prism Analytics) that bring business value.\nWhat you’ll need:\nEducation & Minimum Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree + 4+ Years of Experience OR Master’s Degree + 3+ Years of Experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.\nExtensive hands-on experience architecting, developing, and supporting Workday HCM, Financial Management, and Payroll, including complex business processes, configuration, security, reporting, and production support.\nProven experience leading and mentoring high-performing Workday engineers, establishing engineering standards, conducting design and code reviews, and driving technical excellence across the platform.\nStrong understanding of Workday architecture, platform extensibility, technical roadmaps, release management, and emerging capabilities to continuously modernize the enterprise application ecosystem.\nExpertise in Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, and integration design patterns, with experience building secure, scalable, and resilient integrations.\nExperience with Workday Extend and platform extensibility capabilities to build custom applications, user experiences, and workflows that address complex business requirements while minimizing unnecessary customization.\nFamiliarity with Workday’s evolving AI capabilities, including Workday Illuminate, AI-powered business process automation. Ability to identify practical opportunities to improve employee productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and streamline Finance and HR operations.\nUnderstanding of AI security, role-based access, data privacy, human oversight, auditability, and governance requirements for deploying AI capabilities in enterprise HR and financial systems.\nStrong experience with Workday Report Writer, calculated fields, dashboards, analytics, and data extraction, with an understanding of Workday data models and integration with enterprise data platforms.\nDeep understanding of Workday security architecture, domain and business process security policies, segregation of duties, audit controls, and SOX compliance requirements.\nExperience with middleware and integration platforms such as MuleSoft, along with event-driven architecture, API management, data transformation, and secure integration patterns across enterprise applications.\nStrong partnership skills with Finance, HR, Payroll, Security, Data, and enterprise architecture teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills, with the ability to convey technical complexity clearly to diverse audiences.\nNice to have:\n6+ years of hands-on Workday integration development experience, with 2+ years of direct people management or formal team leadership experience.\nPractical experience managing integrations with payroll providers (e.g., ADP) and financial ledgers.\nFamiliarity with Workday Extend, Workday Prism Analytics, or orchestration middleware.\nActive Workday Integration Certification (e.g., Workday Studio, Core Connectors, or Integrations).\nUnderstanding of fintech regulatory environments, SOX controls, and data security frameworks (OAuth, SAML, encryption).\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe base pay range for this role is listed below.
