Through the Papernet brand, we serve the Away-from-Home sector, providing quality solutions for businesses and public spaces.\nWherever you are, Sofidel is there, bringing comfort, quality, and sustainability to everyday life!\nTHE ROLE\nSofidel UK has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to join our Papermill team.\nWorking Monday to Friday on a day-shift pattern (alternating between 08:00-16:00 and 10:00-18:00), with every fourth Friday off, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your engineering skills and build your career within a busy manufacturing environment.\nAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our papermaking machinery. Working as part of the engineering team, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose and resolve mechanical faults, and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, plant efficiency and overall performance.\nThis is a varied, hands-on role offering plenty of opportunity to learn, develop and make a real contribution to the ongoing success of our operation.\nMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES\nCarry out routine, preventative and breakdown maintenance on paper machines, pulpers, rollers, conveyors and auxiliary equipment, including bearings, seals, pumps and motors.\n\nParticipate in planned and unplanned plant shutdowns, providing engineering support as required.\n\nRespond to emergency breakdowns and participate in a rotational out-of-hours call-out system.\n\nEnsure mechanical equipment and maintenance standards are consistently maintained to a high standard.\n\nDiagnose mechanical faults, dismantle, inspect, repair and replace defective components using appropriate tools and equipment.\n\nInterpret technical engineering drawings, schematics and OEM manuals accurately to troubleshoot faults, identify and cross-reference replacement parts, and carry out repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications.\n\nMonitor machinery during operation, identifying potential faults or abnormalities through observation, listening and the use of appropriate testing and measuring equipment.\n\nFit, assemble, grind, shape, weld, heat and cut metal components as required for maintenance and repair activities.\n\nIdentify and contribute to quality improvements, cost reductions and increased productivity across the plant.\n\nSupport production teams in understanding and carrying out basic preventative maintenance practices to help minimise equipment downtime.\n\nComplete daily and weekly equipment inspection checklists and accurately record maintenance activities using computerised maintenance systems, including SAP.\n\nFollow established Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and equipment isolation protocols to ensure machinery is safely isolated before maintenance work is undertaken.\n\nAssist with the assembly, installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.\n\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentation as required.\n\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping within the working area throughout the shift.\n\nEnsure all work is carried out in accordance with company health and safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\n£24.29 per hour\nFree on
