The Software Engineer works closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to translate business and technical requirements into maintainable software solutions and support applications throughout the development lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications and services using Java and/or Go in accordance with established engineering standards and system requirements.\nDevelop and integrate APIs, microservices, and distributed system components to support reliable communication between internal and external systems.\nDesign and work with relational databases, including data modelling, schema development, query optimisation, and application-level data access, while supporting NoSQL technologies where required.\nDevelop and maintain application components using appropriate frameworks, libraries, application servers, and container technologies.\nContribute to frontend application development where required using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or React.\nApply appropriate software design patterns, clean coding principles, and development practices to produce maintainable, reusable, and reliable software.\nDevelop and maintain unit and integration tests to support application quality and minimise regression risks.\nParticipate in code reviews and Git-based development workflows to maintain code quality and consistency across the engineering team.\nSupport CI/CD, containerisation, build, and deployment activities to enable reliable application delivery across environments.\nIntegrate applications with message brokers and event-streaming technologies where required to support asynchronous and distributed processing.\nTroubleshoot and resolve application defects, integration issues, performance concerns, and technical incidents, including supporting root-cause analysis and corrective actions.\nWork closely with Product, Business Analysis, Quality Assurance, DevOps/Platform, and other relevant teams to clarify requirements, manage technical dependencies, and support successful solution delivery.\nMaintain appropriate technical documentation relating to application design, integrations, configurations, and development activities.\nContribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices, development processes, application quality, and team effectiveness.\nResponsibilities may evolve based on business, product, and technology needs while remaining aligned with the role's overall purpose.\nSkills & Requirements\nMinimum 4 years of backend software development experience, primarily using Java and/or Go.\nStrong proficiency in Java and/or Go, with sound understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, and clean coding practices.\nExperience with the Spring ecosystem for Java and/or commonly used Go frameworks such as Gin, Echo, or Fiber.\nExperience designing and developing microservices, REST/SOAP APIs, and distributed systems within enterprise application environments.\nStrong working knowledge of relational databases, including schema design and query optimisation, with exposure to NoSQL data stores.\nPractical experience with message brokers or event-streaming platforms such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, or RabbitMQ.\nExperience with application servers, containerisation, and deployment technologies, such as Tomcat, WildFly, Docker, and Kubernetes.\nProficiency in a modern JavaScript framework such as Vue or React, together with solid CSS knowledge.\nGood understanding of unit and integration testing, debugging practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development workflows.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot application, integration, and performance-related issues.\nGood communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering and delivery teams.\nStrong learning mindset, attention to detail, and accountability for code quality and reliable software delivery.\nExperience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is an advantage.\nExposure to fintech, payments, financial services, or other regulated technology environments, including familiarity with standards such as EMV or PCI-DSS, is an
