The engagement can be part-time, with potential to grow to full-time, for temporary or permanent assignments. This search is not tied to a single project. The engineer may join any of our Ruby on Rails engagements, which typically include:\n-fintech and payment platforms, such as accounts receivable automation and payment gateway integrations;\n-ticketing and event platforms, covering ticket sales, discovery, scanning, access control applications and organiser reporting;\n-modernization of complex legacy Rails products, including refactoring, performance work, and migration.\nTypical stack: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redis, Sidekiq, React, RSpec, Docker, AWS and GitHub Actions. The candidate will work in distributed teams with PMs, BAs, QA, DevOps, Solution Architects, and client stakeholders.\nRequirements:\n3+ years of commercial experience with Ruby on Rails (5+ years for Senior), including Ruby 3.x and Rails 6/7+. Experience with both legacy and modern codebases is a plus.\nStrong knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including data modeling, migrations, indexing, and query optimization.\nExperience with background jobs (e.g. Sidekiq) and caching (Redis).\nExperience building RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services and APIs.\nSolid JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills. Experience with React, Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus), or server-rendered templates (ERB/Slim/HAML).\nHands-on experience with RSpec (plus FactoryBot and Capybara) and a habit of keeping test coverage meaningful.\nPractical use of AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) or building AI-powered features via APIs.\nProactive, responsible, and comfortable with ambiguity. The candidate can analyse and estimate requirements and work effectively in distributed international teams.\nEnglish level: B2+.\nNice to have:\nApplied knowledge of OOP, SOLID, MVC and design patterns.
