On the Transition Smart Energy Platform (SXP) project for a German transmission system operator, you will take over an existing solution and modernize it step by step through 2027, so that large volumes of energy data are processed reliably every day.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDevelop and maintain high-performance Java services that receive and process large volumes of smart meter data\n\nModernize the inherited platform step by step, improving performance, maintainability, and resilience\n\nCollaborate closely with DevOps engineers, architects, and client stakeholders to plan changes and release them safely\n\nAnalyze and resolve third-level incidents and fix bugs to keep production services dependable\n\nBuild event-driven data flows with Kafka and Kafka Streams\n\nOperate and troubleshoot services on Kubernetes, and monitor them with Grafana and Splunk\n\nMaintain Azure DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and delivery\n\nContribute to Angular frontend work when the project requires it\n\nRequirements\n\n8+ years of experience in Java development and related technologies\n\n8+ years of experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks (Quarkus, Jakarta EE)\n\n6+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes\n\nPractical experience with Kafka and/or Kafka Streams\n\nRecent hands-on project experience (within the last 3 years) in the technologies above\n\nAnalytical approach to incident analysis and problem-solving in production environments\n\nClear, proactive communication within a distributed team\n\nExpert knowledge of Java and related technologies\n\nSoftware design patterns, continuous integration, and security practices\n\nExperience building solutions for large data volumes with relational and non-relational databases\n\nExperience with OpenShift and/or Azure\n\nKnowledge of power grids and energy markets\n\nFluent German and English (C1) to work with the client, run technical discussions, and write documentation in both languages\n\nSoftServe is an equal opportunity employer.
