Our core purpose is to help organizations improve software engineering capabilities and develop or acquire the right software, defect free, within budget and on time, every time.\nPosition Summary\nThe SEI’s Enabling Edge Intelligence (E2I) team is a group of software engineers, researchers, and data scientists focused on developing tools and practices for integrating AI capabilities into software systems that operate in edge environments, with a focus on production-readiness and resource optimization.\nA focus area within E2I is improving efficiency and effectiveness of approaches for testing key qualities of edge AI systems, such as security, safety, and resource efficiency. The Enabling Edge Intelligence (E2I) Intern will contribute to a variety of activities within this focus area.\nRequirements:\nEnrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program software engineering, computer science, or related field.\nUS citizenship - You will be subject to a background check and must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.\nAble to work an internship during the summer.\nAble to work onsite at the SEI Pittsburgh office.\nDuties:\nInvestigating new and effective approaches for testing of AI capabilities\nCreating new and effective ways of leveraging generative AI and agentic tools and technologies for testing of AI capabilities\nIntegrating testing approaches into an existing ML Test and Evaluation (MLTE) process and toolset\nContributing to sharing the results via peer reviewed articles, blog posts, and other relevant publications\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: (Bullets)\nAbility to critically think and problem solve\nSolid understanding of software engineering and software testing\nProficiency in Python\nProficiency with use of Generative AI and Agents for code development\nAbility to collaborate internally and externally with professional engineers and researchers\nWillingness to learn new technologies\nDesired Experience: (Limit to 3 or 4 bullets)\nExperience with development of agentic systems\nExperience
