This accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)-focused shared services role reports to the Accounting Manager of Shared Services and works closely with the Staff Accountant within an accounting team. The position supports multiple entities and combines invoice and payment processing with selected accounts receivable (AR) reconciliation and close activities, journal entries, reporting, controls, and continuous process improvement. Founded in 2008 and led by its founder, Sol Systems is dedicated to shaping an energy future we can all believe in. \nKey Responsibilities:\nProcess, review, and route invoices and payments across multiple entities, ensuring appropriate coding, approvals, supporting documentation, and timely execution.\nPrepare weekly accounts payable reports, payment runs, cash requirement summaries, and approval packages; follow through on exceptions and open items.\nCoordinate with internal stakeholders and vendors to resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.\nPerform AP and AR reconciliations, including vendor statements, customer balances, and aging-related variances, in support of month-end close.\nPrepare intercompany and pay-on-behalf journal entries, supporting schedules, and reconciliations across legal entities.\nSupport the unclaimed property and 1099 process\nAssist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accrual support if needed.\nMaintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with established policies, procedures, and internal controls.\nPartner with the Staff Accountant and broader accounting team to balance workload, meet deadlines, and maintain service levels across shared services.\nIdentify recurring issues and recommend improvements to AP, AR, payment, and reconciliation processes.\nSupport reporting requests, and other accounting projects as assigned, with increasing ownership as proficiency grows.\nYou’ll also have the chance to work in other areas that you or we identify as important for building the team and our business.\n A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting\n3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with strong accounts payable and accounts receivable exposure in a multi-entity environment.\nSolid general ledger knowledge and practical experience supporting journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.\nFor-profit company experience required; renewable energy or project-based accounting experience is advantageous.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize, analyze, reconcile, and communicate accounting data clearly.\nVery strong attention to detail, sound judgment, clear communication, ownership mindset, and the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.\nExperience with NetSuite and Routable is a plus\nLocation & Hours: This is a full-time hybrid role based in the Washington, DC office.\nCommitment & Compensation: Base salary range: $90,000 to $100,000.
