Agents are only as good as what they can sense, trust, and act on in the moment, and real-time, event-driven data is becoming the foundation every serious AI system runs on.\nSolace is the leading real-time data platform for the enterprise AI era. Established enterprises worldwide - including RBC Capital Markets, Bosch, Heineken, PSA Singapore, United Airlines, Schwarz Group, and hundreds more - have built their business around Solace to enable intelligent, real-time experiences, modernize their application and integration landscape, and create seamless digital journeys for their customers, partners, and employees.\nSo, the next time you drive a car, order furniture online, fly in a plane, check your bank balance on your phone, your positive experience could be a direct result of our technology-and your hard work!\nAbout the Role\nThis position is for a Platform Engineeron the Cloud Infrastructure team within Solace's Engineering Platform group. You will help build, deploy, and operate the platform that runs Solace Cloud, with a particular focus on self-managed deployments: instances of Solace Cloud that run inside a customer's own cloud account, in a sovereign or regional cloud, or in a US Government environment such as a FedRAMP-authorized region.\nThe role blends two things. Day to day, you will work as a platform engineer alongside the rest of the Cloud Infrastructure team: Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, Helm, CI/CD, secrets management, identity and access, and the automation that lets us provision and upgrade clusters reliably across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will also carry a production engineeringresponsibility for the environments we deploy, which means owning their operational health, participating in incident response, and continuously improving runbooks, observability, and upgrade paths.\nAs Solace grows its footprint in regulated and government markets, this role is expected to move further toward a deploy-forward engineeringprofile: standing up and managing self-managed Solace Cloud deployments in government clouds, working through FedRAMP and related compliance requirements, and acting as the technical bridge between Solace engineering and the customer environments our platform runs in.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDeploy, operate, and upgrade self-managed Solace Cloud environments in customer-controlled accounts, sovereign clouds, and US Government clouds (for example AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and GCP Assured Workloads), including air-gapped and egress-restricted deployments.\nDesign, build, and maintain the infrastructure-as-code, Helm charts, and automation that provision Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE, and alternative Kubernetes distributions) and the platform services that run on them.\nOwn the operational health of the environments you deploy: monitoring and alerting, capacity, patching, cluster lifecycle and Kubernetes version upgrades, database operations, and backup and recovery.\nParticipate in production support and incident response, drive root-cause analysis, and turn findings into durable fixes, runbooks, and automation.\nImplement and maintain security baselines for regulated environments: hardened images, FIPS-validated cryptography, restricted RBAC, network segmentation, private connectivity (VPN, private link, hub-and-spoke routing), and secrets management with HashiCorp Vault.\nContribute to FedRAMP and related compliance efforts by implementing technical controls, producing evidence, supporting audits, and keeping documentation current.\nWork directly with customer platform and security teams during deployments and upgrades, translating their constraints into supportable configurations and feeding what you learn back into the product.\nBuild and extend CI/CD pipelines and automated test coverage for infrastructure and platform code.\nContribute to platform microservices in Java / Spring Boot where infrastructure and application boundaries meet, following agile software development practices.\nCommunicate with the team through design reviews, demos, and documentation, and mentor others on self-managed and government deployment patterns.\nWhat You’ll Bring to the Role\nBecause this role supports US Government and FedRAMP-related work, candidates must be US citizens and eligible for Security clearance is required.\nBS degree in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.\n5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or production engineering roles, with hands-on ownership of production systems.\nDeep, practical Kubernetes expertise: cluster provisioning and lifecycle, networking (CNI, ingress, service mesh basics), storage (CSI), RBAC, autoscaling, and troubleshooting workloads in managed and self-hosted distributions.\nProficiency with infrastructure as code using Terraform, and with packaging and deploying applications with Helm.\nStrong Linux fundamentals and cloud networking knowledge (VPC/VNet design, routing, load balancers, VPN and private connectivity, DNS, TLS/PKI).\nExperience in at least two of AWS, Azure, and GCP, including their government or sovereign variants, or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on a new provider.\nWorking knowledge of FedRAMP (Moderate or High), NIST SP 800-53, FIPS 140-2/140-3, and hardening standards such as CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs, and experience implementing or evidencing controls in a cloud environment.\nExperience managing secrets, credentials, and certificates with HashiCorp Vault or similar tools.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and writing automated tests for infrastructure and services (unit, integration, functional, performance).\nComfortable scripting and coding in at least one general-purpose language (Go, Python, or Java); able to read and contribute to Java / Spring Boot services.\nExperience operating relational and search databases in production (for example MySQL and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch).\nComfortable working directly with customers and government stakeholders, explaining technical decisions clearly and concisely.\nA self-starter who thrives with ambiguity, documents as they go, and collaborates well within cross-functional teams.\nUS citizenship is requiredfor this position due to US Government and FedRAMP customer requirements.\nNice to have Skills\nPrior experience deploying or operating SaaS platforms inside customer-owned accounts, sovereign clouds, or air-gapped environments, including private container registry mirroring and offline image distribution.\nHands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, GCP Assured Workloads, or DoD Impact Level environments.\nExperience supporting a FedRAMP authorization (3PAO assessment, SSP authoring, POA&M management, continuous monitoring).\nExperience with OpenStack-based or other non-hyperscaler Kubernetes platforms.\nExperience with application performance monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana, including operating them under data-residency constraints.\nExperience with event-driven architecture and event brokers such as Solace, Kafka, or SNS.\nExperience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt).\nExperience with microservices design patterns and REST API development.\nExperience with JavaScript client frameworks (React, Angular, Aurelia).\nRelevant certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CKS, or cloud provider professional-level certifications.\nWhy You’ll Love Working at Solace\nAt Solace, we’re all about smart people, meaningful work, and good vibes.\nWork with brilliance- Our team is packed with some of the sharpest minds in the industry.\nBalance matters- We believe work should fit into your life, not the other way around.\nHybrid-first- Flexibility is built into how we work, so everyone feels included and empowered.\nValues-driven- We live and breathe our core values: craftsmanship, trust, courage, freedom, momentum, humility, and human experience.\nGrowth mindset- Our training programs are designed to help you level up, fast.\nCustomer Obsessed- We’re proud of our world-class customer lineup (we’re not shy about it).\nKeep it fun- We’re social, we keep things simple, and we know how to have a good time.\nCreative culture- We’ve got a great sense of humour and we make cool videos on topics like MITT and this (check them out!).\nAt Solace, we are committed to a fair, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process.\nTo help identify candidates whose qualifications best align with the role, we use artificial intelligence (AI) tools during the initial stage of resume screening. These tools compare submitted resumes to the job description, focusing on education, experience, and skills.\nImportantly, all decisions beyond this initial screening-including interviews and final hiring-are made by our human recruitment team. AI is never used to make final hiring decisions.\nLet’s Talk\nNot sure you meet every requirement? That’s okay - we’re more interested in your potential and passion.
