This position will be part of the Electrolyte Systems Engineering team and will focus on characterizing the electrochemical performance of current and future generations of electrolyte materials. The Electrochemical Engineer will executeand improve electrochemical testing methods, analyze data, and translate results into engineering insights that supportproduct development, process optimization, and scale-up activities from pre-pilot through pilot manufacturing. \nJob Duties:\nDesign, execute, and interpret electrochemical experiments to evaluate the performance and stability of current and next-generation solid-state electrolyte products. \nTranslate electrochemical feedback into actionable product and process improvements. \nCorrelate electrolyte processing conditions, material properties, and microstructure to electrochemical performance, enabling process-structure-property-performance (PSPP) understanding and decision-making. \nPerform electrochemical characterization such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), critical current density (CCD) testing, DC polarization, rate capability testing, and long-term cycling studies, with opportunities to apply more advanced analysis methods such as distribution of relaxation times (DRT) analysis. \nSupport the development and refinement of characterization methods and analytical approaches to improve understanding of electrolyte behavior, degradation mechanisms, and electrochemical stability. \nApply statistical and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python) to evaluate experimental results, identify significant trends, and support data-driven decision making. \nContribute to root-cause investigations involving material performance, product variability, process changes, and customer-relevant cell outcomes. \nAnalyze, visualize, and communicate complex electrochemical datasets to technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing clear recommendations and development priorities. \nQualifications/Requirements:\nB.S., M.S.,or Ph.D.in Electrochemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or arelated technical field. \nMinimum 3years of relevant experience developing orapplying electrochemical characterization methods in batteries, solid-state batteries, electrochemical materials, or related technologies; level will be determinedbased on experience. \nWorking knowledge ofelectrochemical techniques including EIS, CV, galvanostatic cycling, CCD testing, DC polarization, and interpretation of electrochemical datasets; experience with DRT or other advanced analysis methods is preferred. \nStrong understanding of structure-property-performance relationships in electrochemical systems and the ability to connect material behavior to product performance. \nExperience designing statistically sound experimental plans (DOE), analyzing large datasets, and drawing actionable conclusions from experimental results. \nProficiencywith data analysis and statistical software (JMP, Minitab, Python, MATLAB, Origin, or similar). \nExperience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional technical problem solving. \nAbility to communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineers, scientists, management, and external stakeholders. \nAbilityto independently executetechnical workstreams and contribute to cross-functional projects in a fast-paced development environment. \nPhysical Requirements:\nRequired to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR\nSalary Range: $80,000 - $125,000/year\nBenefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, 8 paid holidays + the week between Christmas and New Years off, Unlimited PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans. \nExport Control Requirements: This position could require access to technology, software and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls.
