The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. This role requires an active security clearance and experience working within regulated or security-sensitive environments.\nYou will work across GCP infrastructure, automation, networking, security, and DevOps, helping to build and maintain highly available, resilient, and compliant cloud platforms. The role is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working with modern cloud technologies in environments where security and reliability are critical.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, build and maintain secure, scalable and highly available GCP infrastructure.\nImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation tools.\nDevelop, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Cloud Build.\nAutomate deployment, configuration management and operational processes using scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.\nManage GCP services, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM and VPC networking.\nImplement containerisation and orchestration solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.\nEstablish monitoring, logging, alerting and observability using Google Cloud Operations Suite and other monitoring platforms.\nApply security best practices across cloud infrastructure, including IAM, least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption and vulnerability management.\nSupport incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous service improvement.\nCollaborate with development, security and architecture teams to embed DevSecOps practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.\nImplement backup, disaster recovery, resilience and business continuity solutions.\nEnsure cloud environments comply with applicable security policies, governance requirements and operational standards.\nContribute to technical documentation, operational runbooks and knowledge sharing across the team.\nKey Skills/Experience:\nProven commercial experience working as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer or in a similar role.\nStrong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\nPractical experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.\nExperience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.\nStrong understanding of Linux administration, networking, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls and load balancing.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes and container-based application deployments.\nProficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash or equivalent.\nExperience with Git-based version control and collaborative software development workflows.\nUnderstanding of cloud security, identity and access management, encryption and secure configuration practices.\nExperience with monitoring, logging, alerting and production incident resolution.\nKnowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and modern DevOps principles.\nActive Security Clearance is essential\nDesirable Skills\nExperience deploying and managing workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).\nGoogle Cloud certifications, such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.\nExperience with Google Cloud Build, Artifact Registry and Cloud Deploy.\nKnowledge of GitOps practices and tools such as Argo CD or Flux.\nExperience implementing DevSecOps tooling, including SAST, DAST, container image scanning and dependency scanning.\nFamiliarity with policy-as-code, automated compliance and security controls.\nExperience working in regulated, government, defence or other security-sensitive environments.\nKnowledge of cloud landing zones, organisation policies, Shared VPC and service perimeter controls.\nExperience with service reliability engineering (SRE), SLIs, SLOs and error budgets.\nFamiliarity with ISO 27001, NCSC guidance and relevant UK Government security requirements.\nBenefits\nCompetitive Salary\nBonus Scheme\nPrivate Healthcare Insurance\n25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays\nUp to 10 days allocated for development training per year\nEnhanced Parental Leave\nPaid Fertility Leave (5 Days)\nContributory Pension\nEAP with Help@Hand\nGym Membership Benefits\nFlexible Benefits Allowance\nCycle to Work and Electric Vehicle schemes\nFlexible Working\nAnnual Away Days/Company Socials\nDiversity and Inclusion\nAs an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to creating a work environment that supports, celebrates, encourages and respects all individuals, where all processes are based on merit, competence and business needs.\nEncouraging high social mobility is really important to us.
