This role manages project planning, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, constructability reviews, procurement strategy, risk assessment, and client coordination to ensure successful project execution from concept through construction handoff.This role is fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.\nJob Description:\n*This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned\nPosition Responsibilities and Duties:\nPreconstruction Leadership\nLead preconstruction efforts for high-voltage electrical projects ranging from 12kV through 500kV+ systems.\nOversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.\nDevelop project execution strategies that align with client objectives and company goals.\nCoordinate preconstruction deliverables from project inception through construction turnover.\nEstimating and Cost Management\nPrepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates.\nAnalyze engineering designs, specifications, and bid documents.\nReview labor productivity, equipment requirements, and material pricing.\nDevelop quantity takeoffs and identify cost-saving opportunities.\nMaintain estimating databases and market pricing trends.\nClient and Stakeholder Management\nServe as the primary preconstruction point of contact for clients, utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders.\nParticipate in project pursuit and proposal presentations.\nFacilitate project kickoff meetings and stakeholder alignment sessions.\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.\nRisk Assessment and Constructability\nIdentify project risks related to scope, schedule, procurement, labor, permitting, and site conditions.\nLead constructability reviews and value-engineering initiatives.\nDevelop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.\nReview project execution plans for safety, quality, and operational efficiency.\nSchedule Development\nCollaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to develop detailed project schedules.\nIdentify long-lead equipment requirements, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and protection systems.\nMonitor critical path activities and project milestones.\nProcurement and Vendor Management\nSupport procurement strategy development.\nSolicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals.\nDevelop bid packages and scopes of work.\nAnalyze supplier capabilities and delivery schedules.\nCross-Functional Coordination\nCollaborate with engineering, operations, finance, procurement, and business development teams.\nEnsure alignment between project estimates, schedules, and execution plans.\nFacilitate smooth handoff from preconstruction to construction operations.\nMinimum Skills or Experience Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.\nEquivalent industry experience may be considered.\n7+ years of experience in electrical construction, high-voltage projects, estimating, or project management.\n3+ years of experience leading preconstruction activities preferred.\nExperience with substations, transmission lines, utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or industrial electrical projects.\nExperience managing projects exceeding $10M preferred.\nFamiliarity with:High-voltage substations\nTransmission and distribution systems\nUtility interconnection requirements\nElectrical codes and industry standards\nEPC and design-build delivery methods\n\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.\nSoftware Skills\nMicrosoft Office Suite\nMicrosoft Project or Primavera P6\nBluebeam\nAccubid, InEight, HeavyBid, or similar estimating platforms\nProcore or equivalent construction management software\nKey Competencies\nLeadership and team development\nStrategic planning\nCost estimating and budgeting\nSchedule management\nRisk analysis and mitigation\nContract review and negotiation\nClient relationship management\nCommunication and presentation skills\nProblem-solving and decision-making\nPerformance Metrics\nEstimate accuracy\nProposal win rate\nBudget adherence\nSchedule development accuracy\nRisk identification and mitigation effectiveness\nClient satisfaction\nSuccessful project turnover to operations\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to travel to project sites, client meetings, and utility facilities as required.\nAbility to work in office and field environments.\nOccasional exposure to construction and industrial jobsite conditions.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.\nSOLV Energy Is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nAt SOLV Energy we celebrate the power of our differences.
