The role owns HV strategy, estimating, preconstruction, operational execution, organizational capability, and customer/utility relationships, and partners closely with the PV, BESS, and Transmission business units and the Infrastructure shared services functions (project controls, finance, and business development). This is a senior leadership role responsible for scaling a self-perform and strategically subcontracted HV organization to support SOLV’s growing interconnection-driven pipeline, and direct to utility customers, while managing the schedule, performance, and health of all HV projects.This role is fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.\nJob Description:\n*This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.\nPosition Responsibilities and Duties:\nBusiness & P&L Leadership\nOwn the full P&L for the High Voltage business unit, including revenue, margin, backlog quality, and working capital performance.\nManage the HV estimating and preconstruction teams\nSign off on all proposals for HV,\nSet HV strategy and growth targets aligned with SOLV’s Infrastructure pipeline and corporate objectives.\nDefine and execute the self-perform vs. subcontract strategy for substation, switchyard, and transmission scope.\nPartner with shared services on bid strategy, and risk-adjusted pricing for HV scope.\nOperational Execution\nDirect execution across a multi-project HV portfolio, ensuring delivery to schedule, budget, quality, and contractual commitments.\nOwn the HV stage gate discipline from preconstruction handoff through energization, commissioning, and closeout.\nManage long-lead-item (LLI) procurement strategy and authorization for transformers, switchgear, breakers, and protection equipment - including LNTP decisioning to protect customer outage and energization windows.\nDrive root-cause analysis and corrective-action discipline on schedule, quality, and cost variances.\nSafety & Quality\nChampion an industry-leading HV safety culture, with rigorous adherence to NFPA 70E, arc flash, LOTO, and energized-work protocols.\nHold field and project leadership accountable for safety performance as the unit’s first operating priority.\nEnsure QA/QC programs meet utility, EOR, and AHJ requirements through testing, commissioning, and energization.\nCustomer, Utility & Interconnection\nServe as the senior HV relationship owner with customers, utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and AHJs.\nOversee interconnection coordination, utility witness/energization milestones, and protection & control scope alignment.\nManage EOR and AVL relationships and resolve engineering/equipment-approval issues that affect HV scope.\nOrganization & Talent\nBuild and scale the HV organization - project management, field leadership, engineering coordination, and craft - to meet pipeline demand.\nDevelop bench strength and succession across HV leadership roles.\nStandardize HV SOPs, tools, and project controls in partnership with the Infrastructure shared services model.\nIntegration & Cross-BU Collaboration\nPartner with the SVP of BESS and Transmission leadership to coordinate HV scope on integrated solar-plus-storage and transmission projects.\nSupport M&A integration of acquired HV/transmission capabilities, including process, systems, and org alignment.\nMinimum Skills or Experience Requirements:\n15+ years of progressive experience in high voltage / substation / transmission construction, with utility-scale or large industrial project exposure.\nDemonstrated P&L or senior operational leadership over a construction business unit or large portfolio.\nDeep technical command of substation, switchyard, and transmission line construction; protection & control; testing, commissioning, and energization.\nProven track record delivering complex HV projects safely, on schedule, and on budget.\nStrong utility, ISO/RTO, and AHJ relationship management experience, including interconnection and energization processes.\nExpert-level HV safety leadership (NFPA 70E, arc flash, LOTO, energized work).\nExperience managing LLI procurement risk and equipment supply chain constraints.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in renewable EPC (utility-scale solar and/or BESS) interconnection scope.\nSelf-perform HV construction leadership.\nPE license, PMP, or equivalent technical/management credentials.\nExperience scaling and integrating acquired construction organizations.\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.\nKey Relationships\nReports to: EVP, Energy Infrastructure\nPeers: SVP, BESS; Transmission business unit leadership\n Partners with: Shared services (Finance, Project Controls, Business Development); Procurement/Vendor Management; Health & Safety\n External: Customers, utilities, ISOs/RTOs, AHJs, EORs, equipment OEMs\nSuccess Measures (First 12-18 Months)\nHV safety performance against unit targets.\nOn-time energization and commissioning milestone delivery across active portfolio.\nMargin and backlog quality improvement.\nLLI procurement risk mitigation and schedule protection on at-risk projects.\nHV org capacity and bench depth aligned to pipeline.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.\nSOLV Energy Is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nAt SOLV Energy we celebrate the power of our differences.
