Working closely with residents, councillors, contractors and partner organisations, the team delivers the highway maintenance programme to ensure the highways asset is safe for the user and remain within a serviceable standard.\nAs an Engineering Technician, you form part of Somerset Councils Asset Management Team and would be reporting to the Structural Maintenance Engineer, and you would be working with the Area Highways Team in East Area - Yeovil, to identify structural maintenance schemes for various treatment types across Somerset and working toward Somerset Councils life cycle planning strategy for the Highway network. This would include undertaking prioritisation inspections and reviewing condition data to ensure our budgets are focused on the conditional needs. The role will also include managing and monitoring budget spend, ensuring best value, working with the Asset Management team on life cycle planning and meeting our carbon reduction requirements. Raising programmes of works for the 3 contractors which form the Structural Maintenance project. Work with the designers to ensure that all elements are undertaken as part of the required works to reduce the impact to highway users. Assist in promoting works with the Area Highways Team and the Programme Manager, where required.
