We strive for collaboration, which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers. \nThe Internship Program is a 10-week development initiative designed to provide professional growth with potential long-term opportunities for successful individuals interested in the Insurance/Reinsurance industry. \nWhat can I expect as an Intern? \nGain valuable niche accounting foundational experience. Ceded Re Accounting provides support to the Global Ceded Reinsurance Team through the processing, recording, and reporting of reinsurance ceded premiums and loss recoverables, in a timely and accurate manner. Ceded Re Accounting ensures data is captured within reinsurance systems and collaborates with other departments within the company to ensure the quality, accuracy and timeliness of processing, financials, and statements. \nSompo Interns are immersed in the day-to-day activities of their team, assisting the Ceded Re team with data, systems and projects within the flow of the Ceded Re accounting process.\nActivities, Learning and Development \nThroughout the program, Interns will have the opportunity to hear from executive leaders, participate in structured, engaging leadership learnings, participate in networking events and activities with peers, members of our Executive team and outside brokerage firms, and be part of a project to present to their manager and mentor.\nOur business, your impact, our opportunity:\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nGain a solid understanding of the company’s ceded reinsurance accounting practices \nContribute and add value to the Ceded Reinsurance Accounting team \nAssist with processing and preparing account statements, as well as analyzing data and statistics \nReview contract set-up in reinsurance systems \nLiaise with the Underwriting/Ceded Reinsurance Operations team regarding data, systems, and projects within the flow of the reinsurance accounting process, for specific assigned Ceded treaties \nAssist the team with special projects What you’ll bring:\nCurrently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program studying Business, Accounting, Economics, or related majors\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills \nStrong analytical and quantitative and interpersonal skills \nInterest in Accounting related field, however, also interested in learning niche Reinsurance contract and language skills \nAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands. The ability to collaborate is an absolute must.\nStrong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) \nEligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction\nPrefer accounting related experience/interests \nPrefer a rising senior \nPrefer local applicants who can contribute/work part time in the office post the completion of the summer intern program Salary Range: $20-22.
