We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.\nOur business, your impact, our opportunity:\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nInternal Audit Execution & Delivery\nExecute risk-based internal audits across business and functional areas within the North America Insurance segment.\nAssess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, including walkthroughs, testing, and documentation of results.\nApply Internal Audit methodology and professional standards to deliver high-quality, consistent audit outcomes.\nLeverage data analytics to enhance audit coverage, risk assessment, and testing approaches.\nThis role could include travel up to 15%.\nFinancial Control Testing\nPerform financial control testing within Underwriting, Claims, and Operations, including leading walkthroughs for each of the various areas.\nCoordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders on financial controls, including planning, walkthroughs, testing, and remediation activities across North America Insurance.\nGovernance, Risk & Controls\nEvaluate governance frameworks, risk management practices, and internal control environments across business operations.\nIdentify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and emerging risks, with a focus on practical, value-added recommendations.\nMaintain awareness of regulatory requirements and industry expectations relevant to the insurance sector.\nReporting & Issue Management\nPrepare clear, concise audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations.\nPartner with business stakeholders to develop appropriate remediation actions.\nTrack and follow up on audit issues through to resolution, ensuring sustainable outcomes.\nStakeholder Engagement\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships with business and functional stakeholders across the organization.\nCommunicate audit observations with clarity and professionalism, providing balanced and constructive challenge.\nSupport audit leadership in delivering insights to senior management, as appropriate\nContinuous Improvement & Insight\nContribute to the ongoing enhancement of Internal Audit methodology, tools, and practices.\nSupport the adoption of data analytics, automation, and continuous auditing techniques.\nIdentify opportunities to improve business processes, strengthen controls, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.\nWhat you’ll bring:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, risk management, insurance, mathematics, statistics, analytics, information systems, engineering, or a related analytical field.\n2-3 years of professional experience in audit, SOX, risk management, compliance testing, controls testing, or public accounting.\nDemonstrated ability to analyze information, identify issues, ask effective follow-up questions, and support conclusions with evidence.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nWillingness to develop additional learning in internal audit methodology, insurance operations, and Sompo-specific processes.\nEffective organizational and workload management capabilities.\nAbility to work independently and manage competing priorities.\nCertified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus.\nSalary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.\nAt Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
