The Senior Infrastructure Architect plays a central role in shaping how that foundation evolves, translating business needs into reusable, scalable infrastructure designs that become the standard blueprint for teams across the company. This role sits at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and strategy, serving as part designer, part escalation point, and part mentor, and it directly enables Sonos' ability to build and ship great products.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the end-to-end design of cloud and on-premise infrastructure, producing reusable blueprints that serve as the standard across all teams requiring infrastructure to support their applications.\n\nDefine and drive the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy for the IT organization, establishing standards for tooling and practices across teams.\n\nPartner with Network Engineering to ensure network designs align with infrastructure standards, and collaborate with stakeholders in Product Software, Product Hardware, Security, and IT to align architecture with business requirements.\n\nDefine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for software and hardware installations, ensuring infrastructure is tested for resiliency and ready for service transition to Global Operations.\n\nAutomate and improve development and release processes in partnership with the Quality Engineering team, and identify broader automation and process improvement opportunities across Infrastructure and Network Engineering.\n\nIdentify and evaluate technology innovations, engaging with business stakeholders to assess requirements, feasibility, and value, including emerging AI tooling and platforms.\n\nAct as an escalation point and subject matter expert for operations teams, supporting incident resolution and providing architectural guidance on complex or ongoing production issues.\n\nMentor the Global Operations team in Incident Management, Change Management, Release Management, and troubleshooting practices, and support less experienced engineers on performance tuning and availability management.\n\nWhat You'll Need\nBasic Qualifications\n7+ years of experience designing, integrating, and managing complex infrastructure solutions.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nHands-on experience with data center, cloud, web, and data service technologies.\n\nExperience in a DevOps engineering or software engineering role, with proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS).\n\nWorking knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Puppet, and Ansible.\n\nWorking knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.\n\nWorking knowledge of Linux administration, Windows administration, and Akamai.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences.\n\nQualified applicants must be able to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nProficiency in Python or an equivalent scripting/development language.\n\nExperience with Git, Jenkins, and associated CI/CD workflows.\n\nWorking knowledge of databases and SQL.\n\nFamiliarity with Snowflake, Vagrant, Pulumi, or additional IaC tooling.\n\nExperience with the Microsoft Azure platform.\n\nFamiliarity with Jira and Agile ways of working.\n\nResearch shows that some candidates may not apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range.
