Do you want to be part of the team that makes the magic happen in connecting the smartest speakers on the planet to streaming music services, voice services, and other devices in the home?\nAs a Software Engineer on the Core Software Connectivity team, you will be responsible for enhancing the industry’s most innovative embedded networking solution for streaming audio and developing the firmware for new product introductions with modern radio chips. You will work with some of the brightest minds in the business across multiple disciplines of software, hardware, acoustics, and WiFi technologies. You will have fun and innovate every day in our fast paced and creative environment.\nWhat You’ll Do\nUse your knowledge of C, Linux kernel mode development, and network device drivers to bring up new prototypes and future Sonos products on the latest, highest performing wireless networking hardware.\n\nUse your understanding of IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and network organization and routing algorithms to improve the performance and scale of the Sonos wireless network.\n\nWork with the rest of the embedded software development teams to understand the audio streaming application software being built on top of WiFi, and suggest ways in which the higher-level software may make most efficient use of the underlying network.\n\nWork closely with the Hardware and Platform Software teams to optimize Sonos platform performance, maintaining our market position as the most advanced audio hardware system in the world.\n\nSkills You’ll Need\nBasic Qualifications:\nBS or MS in EE, CS, Mathematics, or related discipline.\n\nProficiency in C\n\n7+ years of experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining embedded systems\n\nExperience in Linux kernel development and debugging\n\nDemonstrated experience in one or more areas below:\nIEEE 802.11/wireless or mesh networking\n\nBluetooth\n\nNetwork stack (TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, NAT)\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nTrack record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software\n\nHands-on debugging skills using logs, packet captures (e.g., Wireshark), regulatory tools, RF analyzers, and SoC-level tracing tools\n\nExperience working directly with external vendor(s) to integrate and troubleshoot issues with chips and drivers.\n\nExperience using formal development processes and tools.\n\nExperience leveraging your curiosity to solve problems in innovative ways.\n\nExperience effectively communicating your ideas verbally and over Slack (or email, Confluence, etc).\n\nNot a stranger to working in a fast-paced, results oriented environment, in fact, you thrive in it.\n\nWhat makes you stand out:\nExperience bringing up new radio platforms and debugging low level issues crossing hardware and software\n\nExperience to pass WiFi alliance testing, BT sig testing, and BT/WiFi compliance testing\n\nExperience defining and implementing statistics for debugging field issues\n\nExperience in full product lifecycle including post GA maintenance\n\nYour profile will be reviewed and you'll hear from us once we have an update.
