To learn more: www.sony.com/en.\nPosition Summary\nSony is seeking a Director, Cyber Defense to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for protecting the organization through worldclass detection, incident response, and cyber defense engineering. Reporting to the Senior Director, Cyber Defense, this role is accountable for operational execution of cyber defense strategy across assigned Sony Group Companies (SGCs).\nThis position blends strategic leadership with hands on operational accountability, including oversight of security monitoring, incident response, detection engineering, and security technology enablement. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, proven people leadership, and the ability to communicate cyber risk clearly to business and executive stakeholders.\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead and evolve a high performing Cyber Defense organization delivering detection, response, and security engineering capabilities. \nExecute cyber defense strategy, translating enterprise objectives into operational roadmaps and measurable outcomes. \nOversee incident response operations and serve as incident commander for significant cyber security events. \nDrive continuous improvement in detection coverage, response speed, and reduction of business impact from security incidents. \nGuide security engineering efforts across on prem, cloud (IaaS), and SaaS environments, including security tooling strategy and integration. \nEnsure high quality onboarding and use of security telemetry within SIEM and analytics platforms. \nCommunicate risk, incidents, and program performance to technical teams and executive audiences. \nDefine and report on program metrics, operational health, and key performance indicators. \nHonesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above . \nQUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION\nYour qualifications and experience should include:\n7+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams in cyber defense, security operations, or security engineering. \n2-3 years of experience leading and managing managers.\nStrong background in incident response, detection, and cyber security operations. \nDemonstrated experience leading high severity incidents and crisis response. \nAbility to clearly communicate complex technical topics to non-technical and executive stakeholders. \nProven ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders, navigate challenging conversations, and drive alignment across competing priorities.\nExperience leading distributed or globally dispersed teams. \nAll candidates must be authorized to work in the US. \nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). \nHands on experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and security analytics platforms. \nFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. \nExperience with Agile or modern delivery and operating models. \nKnowledge of privacy, regulatory, and compliance considerations impacting cyber defense. \nWork Requirements\nThis role requires flexibility in work hours and participation in on call rotations to support global operations. \nWhy Sony\nSony is a global leader in entertainment, technology, and innovation. In addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target of 22%.
