Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.\nHardware Fleet Operations Specialist\nLocation: Aliso Viejo, CA - Hybrid\nContract role: 12 months \nAs a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, GDFT is leading the cloud gaming revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device, from TVs to consoles to mobile devices and beyond.\nThe Hardware Fleet Operations team is a critical component of our support structure that enables GDFT to successfully operate a global footprint at scale. This role focuses on Linux terminal-based troubleshooting beyond documented workflows, investigating recurring issues, managing the hardware lifecycle, and improving documentation and runbooks. You will partner with various engineering groups to transition operational support work to the Hardware Fleet Operations team. The role also includes building lightweight scripts or basic automation to reduce manual effort and enable other support teams to handle repeatable tasks more efficiently.\nKey Responsibilities\nRespond to operational support requests in a 24/5 environment, meeting SLAs and prioritizing work across internal customers and cross-functional teams.\nTroubleshoot and support Linux-based hardware systems using terminal-based tools, addressing issues that require investigation beyond existing documentation.\nIdentify recurring operational issues and work with engineering teams to stabilize and operationalize support workflows.\nCreate, update, and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and internal documentation based on real-world support findings.\nDevelop and maintain lightweight scripts or simple automation to reduce manual tasks and improve operational consistency.\nSupport the transition of operational workloads from engineering teams into the Hardware Fleet Operations team.\nWho We Are Looking For\n2-3 years of hands-on experience supporting or troubleshooting Linux-based systems.\nPrior experience in a technical support, operations, or IT service delivery role.\nComfortable in working primarily in Linux terminal environments.\nExperience following and improving runbooks, documentation, and operational processes.\nFamiliarity with ticketing systems such as Jira or ServiceNow in an operations context.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document issues and solutions for technical and non-technical audiences.\nPreferred Qualifications\nLinux terminal-based troubleshooting\nBasic scripting or automation (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar)\nIT support fundamentals, including systems and basic networking concepts (Network+ level or equivalent)\nCompensation: $40-45/Hour\nPlease note, Sony Interactive Entertainment conducts background checks at the offer stage for all new employees (which may include criminal background checks for some roles) and will need to process personal information to support these checks.\nPlease refer to our Candidate Privacy Notice for more information about what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your data protection rights.\nEqual Opportunity Statement:\nSony is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
