The Sr BI Specialist serves as a senior full stack\nBI developer and subject matter expert within a business domain, partnering closely with the BI\nManager, Central BI Team, and Data Engineering to set technical direction, mentor junior team\nmembers, and ensure solutions are designed and deployed in accordance with best practices and\nenterprise standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nAnalytics Strategy & Delivery\nPartner with BI Managers to shape and drive the analytics vision, strategy, and roadmap;\nindependently lead workstreams and influence prioritization in alignment with organizational\nobjectives.\nTranslate ambiguous business questions and problems into structured, scalable analytics\nsolutions.\nRapidly prototype analytics solutions to gather early stakeholder feedback and iterate\nefficiently, reducing time-to-insight; serve as a model for agile delivery practices across the\nteam.\nSolution Design & Development\nPartner with Data Engineering to architect and implement end-to-end BI solutions - from\ndata ingestion and modeling to visualization - setting technical standards and design\npatterns that scale across the team and enterprise.\nBuild performant, maintainable dashboards and reports using modern BI tooling (e.g.,\nDOMO, Tableau, Looker).\nOwn and optimize domain data models that underpin reliable, consistent reporting; conduct\npeer reviews to ensure quality and maintainability across the team’s solutions.\nStandardization & Scalability\nProactively drive standardization of analytics solutions; lead initiatives with the Central BI\nTeam to scale them into enterprise-wide capabilities.\nLead the development of reusable components, templates, and frameworks for the shared\nanalytics library, guide adoption across the BI team.\nChampion consistent KPI definitions and reporting standards within the business domain.\nData Governance & Quality\nAlign on domain-specific data models and KPI definitions in close collaboration with the\nCentral BI Team and business stakeholders.\nWork with the Central BI Team and Data Engineering to proactively identify, troubleshoot,\nand resolve data quality issues; lead root cause analyses and own remediation plans to\nprevent recurrence.\nEnsure data lineage, documentation, and governance practices are created and maintained\nfor all owned solutions.\nStakeholder Engagement\nAct as a trusted analytics partner to business stakeholders, translating data insights into\nclear, actionable narratives.\nLead demos, training sessions, and enablement workshops; develop scalable self-service\nprograms to drive broad adoption of BI tools and solutions.\nGather and synthesize stakeholder feedback to continuously improve analytics products;\ntranslate feedback into prioritized enhancements on the team roadmap.\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or\na related field (or equivalent practical experience).\n8+ years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a closely related\nrole, with demonstrated growth in scope and complexity.\nDemonstrated track record of delivering enterprise-scale analytics solutions that directly\ninfluenced strategic business decisions and measurable outcomes.\nTechnical Skills\nExpert-level proficiency across one or more major BI platforms - DOMO, Tableau, Looker,\netc.\nExpert level SQL skills - complex queries, window functions, CTEs, query optimization.\nExperience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Databricks).\nExpertise in data modeling concepts: star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling,\nsemantic layers, and performance tuning at scale.\nExperience with Python or R for data wrangling and exploratory analysis.\nAnalytical & Business Acumen\nStrong ability to decompose complex business problems into clear analytics requirements.\nExperience defining and documenting KPIs and business metrics in collaboration with\nstakeholders.\nProven ability to present data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nCollaboration & Soft Skills\nStrong communication skills - written, verbal, and visual storytelling.\nComfortable navigating ambiguity and working iteratively with stakeholders.\nStrong cross-functional collaboration skills; experience working with a COE is a plus.\nSelf-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail.\nPlease note, Sony Interactive Entertainment conducts background checks at the offer stage for all new employees (which may include criminal background checks for some roles) and will need to process personal information to support these checks.\nPlease refer to our Candidate Privacy Notice for more information about what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your data protection rights.\nEqual Opportunity Statement:\nSony is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
