Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.\nKey Responsibilities\nAs a Software Engineer II - Kernel Security, your responsibilities will include:\nBuild, develop, and maintain kernel security features for PlayStation systems.\nCollaborate with multi-functional teams to successfully implement security improvements.\nDebug and resolve sophisticated security issues within the kernel.\nSupervise and analyze security threats to determine the best course of action.\nAssist with open-source projects associated with kernel security.\nMaintain code quality through meticulous testing and code reviews.\nRequirements\nTo be considered for this role, you must have:\nA bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nProficiency in C programming languages, other programming language like C++ is a plus.\nExperience with kernel development, freeBSD knowledge is a plus.\nKnowledge in kernel security concepts and practices.\nFamiliarity with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub.\nExcellent debugging skills and problem-solving abilities.\nThe ability to work autonomously and within a cooperative group.\nPreferred Qualifications\nThe ideal candidate will also have:\nAdvanced knowledge of operating systems and low-level programming.\nExperience contributing to widely recognized open-source projects.\nEffective communication abilities and the capability to clearly explain intricate technical ideas.\nA strong passion for gaming and knowledge of the gaming industry.\nAt SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.\nPlease note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. \nIn addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products.
