This is a rare opportunity to design at startup speed and drive huge impact inside the largest gaming company in the world.\nWe are seeking a Software Engineer II specializing in React Native and high-performance mobile development. In this role, you will design, build, and improve mobile experiences while contributing to the architecture, frameworks, and technical practices that support our applications.\nYou will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and researchers to deliver user interfaces that are performant, accessible, reliable, and delightful at scale. You will take ownership of meaningful features from development through release and production support.\nResponsibilities \nDesign, build, test, release, and maintain mobile application features using React Native and modern JavaScript and TypeScript.\nContribute to the evolution of frontend architecture, reusable components, development patterns, and technical standards.\nPartner with product managers, designers, and researchers to translate user experience requirements into practical, maintainable technical solutions.\nWrite maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews, documentation, testing practices, and release processes.\nInvestigate, diagnose, and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.\nCollaborate with the backend team to deliver reliable end-to-end experiences. \n\n Requirements\n3+ years of professional software development experience, including experience building React Native applications or high-performance JavaScript and TypeScript applications.\nBS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\nStrong understanding of React Native, JavaScript, TypeScript, component architecture, state management, and mobile application development.\nExperience profiling, debugging, and optimizing frontend or mobile application performance.\nUnderstanding of cross-platform application architecture and communication between JavaScript and native modules.\nExperience delivering production-quality mobile applications using React Native.\nExperience building reusable UI components and maintainable frontend systems.\nAbility to independently deliver well-defined projects while collaborating effectively with engineers and cross-functional partners.\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and debugging skills.\nPassion for delivering high-quality user interfaces with excellent performance and usability.\nBonus\nExperience building social, community, gaming, or other consumer products.\nFamiliarity with VoIP, call dialing and ringing flows in Android/React Native\nExperience with accessibility, internationalization, and UI testing frameworks. \nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern build systems for frontend development.\nPrevious experience at an early-stage startup or on a zero-to-one product team.\nAt SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.\nPlease note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. \nThe estimated Ontario base pay range for this role is listed below.\n$115,500—$173,300 CAD\nPlease note, Sony Interactive Entertainment conducts background checks at the offer stage for all new employees (which may include criminal background checks for some roles) and will need to process personal information to support these checks.\nPlease refer to our Candidate Privacy Notice for more information about what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your data protection rights.\nEqual Opportunity Statement:\nSony is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
