We deliver tailored solutions, tested leadership, and trusted results to enable national security missions worldwide.\n **This position is contingent upon contract award**\nSOSi is seeking a Data Governance & Metadata Scientist to support mission requirements for a structured approach to further develop, integrate, and sustain a scalable, federated data ecosystem that enhances interoperability, governance, and mission-driven analytics for a DoD customer. The primary objective of the program is to bridge the operational gaps between DoD, IC, interagency, and non-traditional international partners to enable real-time information sharing, dynamic data integration, and mission-tailored analytical capabilities.\nEssential Job Duties:\nThe contractor shall establish and maintain metadata governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with DoD data management policies and interoperability with Data Catalog.\nThe contractor shall develop automated metadata tagging processes to improve data discoverability, classification, and lineage tracking within the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP) platform.\nThe contractor shall implement and manage data governance workflows, ensuring integration with OpenLineage, Unity Catalog, and GIS metadata standards.\nThe contractor shall submit the Metadata & Data Governance Compliance Report, detailing lineage tracking, classification policies, and security enhancements.\n Minimum Requirements\nKnowledge and capability to develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata consistency, lineage tracking, and interoperability between Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes environments, and external data sources.\nPersonnel must be proficient in metadata management, data lineage tracking (Unity Catalog/OpenLineage), schema alignment, and governance best practices.\nExpertise in geospatial data standards, data cataloging, and compliance with DoD metadata policies is required.\nThe contractor shall provide personnel with a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related field, or;five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.\n\nDemonstrated experience in: Implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.\nTracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.\nUtilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar tools for metadata and data lineage management.\nEnforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets\nPreferred Qualifications\nDesirable but not required certifications include Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DAMA Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP), or ESRI Geospatial Data Management Certification.\n Work Environment\nOffsite/remote.\nWorking at SOSi\nAll interested individuals will receive consideration and will not be discriminated against for any reason.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3180,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Cybersecurity","Military Logistics","Intelligence","System Integration"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-17T20:21:30Z"}],"liveness":{"score":59,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.59,"p_room":1,"age_days":6,"expected_fill_days":22,"reasons":["conf:7","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-24T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":157920,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/sosi-data-governance-metadata-scientist-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/sosi-data-governance-metadata-scientist-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-24T14:57:25Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
