It has since broadened into intelligence analysis, logistics and base operations support, information technology and network engineering, and cybersecurity, working for defence, intelligence and federal civilian customers both in the United States and in deployed locations. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia and still family owned, it employs several thousand people, a large share of them holding security clearances.

Founded in 1989, SOSi is among the largest private, founder-owned technology and services integrators in the defense and government services industry. We deliver tailored solutions, tested leadership, and trusted results to enable national security missions worldwide.

The Safety Manager shall lead quality assurance, quality control, and safety oversight across all program operations. This role ensures SOSi facilities, personnel, equipment, and mission activities meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence-both during routine readiness and high-tempo emergency response missions.

The QA/QC Safety Manager is a critical guardian of program integrity, ensuring safe working environments, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all related functions.

Essential Job Duties

  • Safety Program Management: Develops, implements, and oversees the SOSi Safety Management Program. Conducts hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and risk mitigation planning. Ensures compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Leads safety briefings, training, and awareness campaigns for staff and deployable teams.

Conducts inspections, audits, and evaluations of facilities, equipment, and operational processes. Tracks non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains documentation required for ASPR reporting, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Emergency Response Support: Provides safety oversight during emergency activations, deployments, and surge operations. Supports Incident Command or Unified Command structures as a safety advisor or technical specialist. Ensures safe operations in field environments, including staging areas, deployment sites, and mobile facilities.
  • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Oversight: Monitors environmental controls, hazardous materials handling, waste management, and indoor air quality. Ensures proper use of PPE, safety equipment, and emergency response gear. Oversees accident investigations, incident reporting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordination & Communication: Collaborates with operations, logistics, facilities, and medical teams to ensure integrated safety practices. Coordinates with federal partners (HHS/ASPR, FEMA, DoW) and local authorities on safety and compliance matters. Provides clear, actionable safety guidance to leadership and field personnel.
  • Program Administration: Maintains safety records, training logs, inspection reports, and QA/QC documentation. Supports development of SOPs, safety plans, and quality management plans. Prepares reports, dashboards, and briefings for program leadership and government stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, public health, business or public administration, or related field.
  • 7 years experience in safety management, quality assurance, quality control, or EHS programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and risk management practices.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and safety training.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, operational, or emergency response environments.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • May have to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Secret clearance (depending on customer).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years experience supporting federal emergency response programs (HHS/ASPR, FEMA, DoD).
  • Certifications such as CSP, CHST, CQA, OSHA 30/50, or equivalent.
  • Background in logistics, facilities, deployable operations, or public health response.
  • Experience developing or managing QA/QC or safety programs for large, complex operations.
