Junior Web & AI Automation Developer

Position Summary

We are looking for a Junior Web & AI Automation Developer to support an Australian business growth agency that helps small and medium-sized businesses connect their websites, online marketing, CRM systems, lead follow-up and practical AI automation.

The role will focus primarily on website implementation and maintenance, followed by CRM workflows and digital marketing configuration. Basic AI automation will be a smaller, developing part of the role. Working directly with the business owner, you will turn approved strategies, designs and content into functioning websites and connected systems.

This is a hands-on junior generalist position for someone with programming fundamentals, strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn. Much of the work will involve template configuration, content implementation, research and troubleshooting rather than extensive custom coding.

Job Details

Work Setup: Work from home

Shift/Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Brisbane time, including a one-hour lunch break

Holidays: Australian public holidays, based on the holiday calendar provided by the client

Responsibilities

Website Development and Maintenance

• Build, update and maintain responsive websites and landing pages using Zoho Sites or other approved website builders, content management systems and low-code platforms.

• Implement approved templates, layouts, copy and images, maintaining consistent presentation and a mobile-friendly user experience.

• Make appropriate HTML, CSS and JavaScript adjustments, and troubleshoot layout, styling, scripting and website integration issues.

• Test pages, forms and links across common browsers and screen sizes. Check spelling, grammar and content accuracy, and support basic accessibility, loading performance and technical SEO improvements.

CRM Configuration and Integrations

• Configure CRM lead-capture and follow-up workflows using Zoho or a client's existing CRM platform.

• Connect website forms, CRMs, email platforms and other business systems using available integrations, APIs or webhooks, with guidance as needed.

• Populate workflows with supplied content, and test triggers, field mappings, actions and error handling to ensure information moves reliably between systems.

Digital Marketing Implementation

• Configure client accounts in Zoho Social or other approved marketing platforms, and upload and schedule content and graphics provided by the business owner.

• As responsibilities develop, assist with monitoring client systems, flag configuration or technical issues, and support client reporting as assigned.

Basic AI and Workflow Automation

• Support the setup and testing of simple, supervised AI assistants, agents and automations using approved tools and implementation guidance.

• Research unfamiliar tools and integrations, use AI-generated instructions as a starting point where appropriate, and apply programming logic to identify gaps and troubleshoot issues.

• Contribute to internal AI and automation projects during quieter client-delivery periods to help reduce repetitive work and improve internal processes.

• Test outputs, follow agreed access controls and retain human review and approval before automations or AI tools are used operationally.

Documentation, Quality and Collaboration

• Document website changes, system configurations, workflows, dependencies, testing and basic handover or recovery steps.

• Follow procedures for protecting passwords, API keys and client data, and obtain the business owner's approval before production releases.

• Communicate progress, questions, blockers and delays promptly, and incorporate feedback to improve the quality and reliability of your work.

Qualifications

3 years of relevant commercial experience in web development, website implementation or a related technical role involving website work.

Essential Capabilities

• A practical programming background and working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with the ability to understand, adapt and troubleshoot website code.

• Hands-on experience with website builders, content management systems or low-code platforms, such as Zoho Sites, WordPress or comparable tools.

• Ability to diagnose website issues and test changes across common browsers and screen sizes.

• An understanding of APIs, webhooks, JSON and how websites exchange information with other systems, together with a willingness to learn unfamiliar integrations.

• Basic understanding of AI tools and a genuine interest in learning practical automation and AI-assisted implementation. Advanced AI engineering experience is not required.

• Strong written and spoken English, including the ability to identify spelling, grammar and content errors when implementing websites and workflows.

• Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research unfamiliar tasks, ask questions and work through gaps in instructions.

• A reliable, organised and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to follow documented procedures, protect confidential information and respond constructively to feedback.

• A fast, reliable internet connection and availability to work the agreed Brisbane business-hours schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Zoho applications, particularly Zoho Sites, CRM, Forms, Flow, Creator, Campaigns or Social. Zoho experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Exposure to automation platforms such as Make, Zapier, n8n or Zoho Flow, including simple workflow or system-integration projects.

• Experience configuring CRM follow-up workflows, form-to-CRM connections or digital marketing platforms.

• Examples of practical AI-enabled applications, assistants, integrations or agents, including small personal or learning projects.

• Familiarity with conversion-focused page design, technical SEO, secure credential management or related website quality practices.

• Experience supporting Australian, New Zealand, United Kingdom or United States clients.

Candidates are encouraged to share available website examples, code samples or related implementation work and explain their personal contribution. Alternative examples can be discussed where confidentiality limits sharing. Automation and AI work samples are welcome but are not mandatory.
