The swim instructor will be responsible for teaching swimming skills to students of all ages and abilities in group settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming instruction, a positive and patient demeanor, and a commitment to promoting water safety.\nResponsibilities:\nPlan and conduct swim lessons following our YMCA curriculum and guidelines.\n\nSwim lessons will be taught with utmost professionalism, high-quality and enthusiastic instruction.\n\nSwim lessons will have a high level of supervision and focus on safety.\n\nInstruct students in water safety and proper swimming techniques.\n\nEvaluate students' progress and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement while collaborating with families.\n\nEnsure a safe and clean aquatic environment.\n\nCommunicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.\n\nEnforce all pool rules and regulations.\n\nInteract with members in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner.\n\nYMCA COMPETENCIES - LEADER\nMission and Community Oriented - Accepts and demonstrates YMCA values. Makes sound judgments, establishes goals, plans work, supports fundraising, and adheres to budgeting procedures.\nPersonal Development - Recognizes personal strengths and limitations, pursues self-development and demonstrates flexibility.\nQualifications\nCurrent lifeguard certification preferred (courses offered through YMCA if not already obtained)\n\nCurrent Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification/YSL or similar (preferred but not required)\n\nCPR and First Aid certification.\n\nPrevious experience teaching swim lessons preferred.\n\nStrong swimming skills and knowledge of various strokes and techniques.\n\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.\n\nAbility to work with diverse age groups and adapt teaching methods as needed.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to demonstrate swimming proficiency and endurance.\n\nAbility to stand and instruct for extended periods.\n\nAbility to lift and move equipment as necessary.\n\nThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, swim, walk and talk and hear.
