Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.\nFlights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp-the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.\nWHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS\n26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers\nAbility to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave\nThe opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plans\nAnnual short-term incentive bonus that recognises both your individual performance and the overall success of the business \nABOUT THE ROLE\nThis is a Permanent position on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.\nAs the Operations Scheduling Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support to the Operations team by driving alignment to the weekly Mining schedule. You’ll work closely with the Short-Term Scheduling and Operational teams to meet operational targets.\nOther key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:\nDrive execution of weekly schedule through daily re-alignment meeting and follow up actions.\nDaily problem-solver for execution team - the aim is to reduce idle time and fight fires efficiently.\nScoping to support weekly and monthly schedule delivery.\nTake initiative to identify and suggest improvements for underground mining operations\nABOUT YOU\nYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:\nExperience in underground mining operations\nKnowledge of stope, development, drill and blast, ventilation, backfill, and/or short-term planning\nExperience in Deswik Ops highly regarded\nInnovate and drive continuous improvement\nEffective communication and collaboration skills\nQualifications for this position are:\nTrade or Degree qualified, or industry experience paired with relevant qualification\nCurrent drivers’ license \nSouth32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
