If so, this is your opportunity to live, work and play a short drive from stunning coastlines, scenic trails and the food and wine heartland of the west.\nLocated in the picturesque south-west and Peel regions of Western Australia, South32 Worsley Alumina is on a journey to become the world’s leading Alumina producer where our 1500 workforce value the lifestyle that Worsley Alumina has to offer.\nOur integrated Bauxite Mine, Alumina Refinery and Port Operation is creating the essential products needed for a sustainable low carbon future.\nWHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS\n26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers\nAbility to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave\nThe opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plans\nShort-term incentive bonus paid annually\nABOUT THE ROLE\nThis role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight working week, at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.\nAs the Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer you will be responsible for the integrity of the tailings and water storage facilities on site during operation, construction and closure phases of these facilities.\nThe RTFE should understand the tailings and water storage facilities for which they are responsible, the risks, and the manner in which those risks are being managed, including any failures, deficiencies, or opportunities for improvement. They should be regularly informed by evaluations of performance and review of results conducted as part of the tailings management system, results of the tailings safety review process and be apprised of any significant developments in between these activities, including production and ore body changes.\nOther key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nAccountable and responsible for the integrity of the TSFs during their operation, construction and closure \nImplement and maintain the Tailings Management System ensuring compliance with Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM)\nProvide regular updates to the Accountable Executive and senior management on the safety and performance of the TSFs\nLiaising with EOR, DOR, construction, operations, planning, governance, regulatory affairs, social performance and environment teams\nImplementation of the design of the TSFs and planning of remedial works \nDefine and develop clear project deliverables for tailings expansion, deposition, geotechnical investigation and dam safety projects\nWater management of the TSF and associated infrastructure \nLead the monitoring of TSF and water dam performance \nOperation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) Manual and associated documents \nABOUT YOU\nYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:\nMinimum of 10 years’ experience in the design, construction, operation and monitoring of TSF and water dams \nRecognised tailings dam experience in design, construction and/or operations\nConsulting background/exposure to multitude of settings/operations \nExtensive knowledge of tailings and water storage facilities\nUnderstanding of technical standards and regulations \nAbility to communicate with and influence operational and engineering personnel\nAuditing and training skills\nQualifications for this position are:\nEngineering degree qualification in relevant engineering subject (civil, soil mechanics, geotechnical)\nSouth32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
