Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963\nWHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS\n26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers\n14% superannuation contributions \nThe opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plans\nExcellent facilities including gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, sports oval, and scenic walking tracks\nABOUT THE ROLE\nThis is a permanent full-time position on a 4:3 (Monday to Thursday) roster FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.\nAs the Water Engineer You will be responsible for providing technical expertise in surface water management, hydrology and water infrastructure planning to support safe, compliant and sustainable operations.\nOther key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:\nDevelop surface water strategies, plans and technical standards. \nLead wet season readiness assessments and prioritised work programs. \nAssess flood, erosion, sedimentation and discharge risks. \nCoordinate water infrastructure solutions aligned with future mine plans.\nABOUT YOU\nSurface water management and infrastructure design within mining or heavy industry. \nHydrology, hydraulic assessments, erosion and sediment control. \nStrong problem-solving, risk assessment and technical planning capability. \nEffective stakeholder engagement and management of specialist consultants.\nQualifications for this position are:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering, Hydrology or a related discipline.\nProject Management qualification, where held as the formal requirement.\nCurrent C Class Driver’s Licence.\nSouth32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
