(Position to be posted for two weeks internally and externally)\nReports to: Dextra Lindsey\nWork Department: Valdosta Distribution\nCity: Waycross\nWork Location : 2470 Wadley Rd Waycross, Georgia\n***Candidate must currently live within a reasonable, daily commuting distance to the selected area OR be willing to immediately relocate to be within commuting distance. Relocation assistance may be available.\nJOB SUMMARY\nThis position will be required to handle all of the day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area. This position will be considered a “floating engineer” position. Meaning candidate will be required to assist other headquarters in the Valdosta Distribution Area when other engineers are on an extended leave. Candidate will maintain an area in the Albany and Bainbridge areas when not assisting other HQ’s.\nResponsibilities include service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground residential, new business and other construction projects. Candidate must provide superior customer service and be able to prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates. Candidate will write and execute switching orders to effectively maintain, operate, and assist in the distribution planning of the system for reliability. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for processing all documentation in accordance with Compliance requirements. Other duties will include handling customer inquiries (voltage complaints, claims, etc.) and assisting with Distribution compliance and asset management programs. Candidate will also participate in the on-call trouble supervision rotation and must be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out-of-state trouble and storm restoration.\nThis position will be considered a “floating engineer” position.\nJOB QUALIFICATIONS\nEducation and Experience for an Engineer or Engineering Associate position:\n- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (From ABET Accredited School) OR\n- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology OR\n- Bachelor's Degree in Math or Science OR\n- Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree\n- Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus\n- Distribution and or related Engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus\nEducation and Experience for an Engineer Representative position:\n- A two-year technical degree, OR four-year degree in a nontechnical field, OR EUT Certificate with two years of utility experience is preferred but not required.\n- Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus\n- Distribution and or related Engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\n- Proficient with MS office products and other related engineering Software systems highly desired.\n- Strong Technical Engineering Skills and understanding of Power Systems are highly desired\n- Candidate should possess knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.\n- Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices.\n- Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders preferred.\n- Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS/JETS Scheduling, Designer/GIS, CSS, Socket, DistView, TCMS Web, NJUNS,\nEDEN, and DisIntel preferred\n- Knowledge of the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook/Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, Consistency Manual and the Financial and Business goals preferred\n- Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.\n- Excellent project management skills that lead to desired results.\n- Ability to work with customers and others as a team member.\n- Must be able to effectively communicate and build positive relationships with customers, engineers, customer service, sales, corporate partners and line crew personnel.\n- Effective oral and written communication skills.\n- Good Attitude and Ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally\n- Working knowledge of NESC.\n- Must have valid driver’s license.\nOther Requirements\n- Must have a safe work record and successfully follow safe work practices & policies for a Safety\nExcellence environment.\n- Must demonstrate the \"Our Values\" behaviors: defined as Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance and Total Commitment.\n- Pursue high standards for safety and customer service.\n- Self-motivated and directed.\n- Take personal responsibility for distribution projects and problems. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:\nMust have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated.
