Relocation assistance available if needed.\nJOB SUMMARY\nThis position provides engineering design, construction coordination, project management, customer support, planning support, reliability improvement, asset management, and operational support for the network underground system, including duct lines, manholes, vaults, submersible cable, and associated equipment. Responsibilities include service and system design, estimating, maintenance, billing, and coordination of construction and permitting activities for large residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The position serves as a primary point of contact for customers, developers, contractors, governmental agencies, construction coordinators, operations personnel, Distribution, Transmission, Metering, Sales, Planning, Accounting, Supply Chain, and local leadership.\nThe successful candidate must provide superior customer service, prepare and schedule construction work to meet committed service dates, and process all documentation in accordance with compliance requirements. Additional responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries, investigating voltage complaints and claims, supporting asset management programs, and advancing reliability, system performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The candidate must exercise sound judgment and balance safety, customer satisfaction, reliability, compliance, and financial stewardship when making engineering and operational decisions.\nEducation and Experience:\nEngineering Representative\nPreferred, but not required: Two-year accredited technical degree; four-year accredited non-engineering degree; EUT certification; or equivalent utility experience and qualifications, as determined by the company.\nEngineering Associate\nRequired: Four-year accredited bachelor’s degree in mathematics or science, or a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree.\nEngineer\nRequired: Four-year accredited Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a Professional Engineer (PE) license.\nPreferred Qualifications\nNetwork underground engineering or field crew experience.\n\nDistribution or network underground experience with an electric utility.\n\nConstruction coordination experience.\n\nProject management experience.\n\nExperience with GIS and engineering design software.\n\nEUT certification.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nStrong technical engineering skills and understanding of electric power systems.\n\nKnowledge of general engineering and construction principles.\n\nKnowledge of electrical system operations, network underground systems, and underground and overhead construction practices.\n\nWorking knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).\n\nPreferred working knowledge of JETS, GIS, and DistView.\n\nPreferred knowledge of the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook and Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, arc-flash requirements, Metering Blue Book, Consistency Manual, and financial and business goals.\n\nDevelop and maintain thorough knowledge of Georgia Power and Southern Company network underground construction practices, guidelines, and procedures.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office products and related engineering software systems.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment in evaluating engineering and operational risk.\n\nStrong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet strict deadlines, and deliver desired results.\n\nEffective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and influence outcomes across customers, engineers, Customer Service, Sales, corporate partners, and line crew personnel.\n\nAbility to work collaboratively, provide excellent internal and external customer service, manage expectations, and resolve challenging situations professionally.\n\nDemonstrated leadership, accountability, and ownership of assigned work.\n\nCommitment to continuous learning and professional development.\n\nAdaptability and resilience during changing business conditions, outages, and emergency response situations.\n\nOther Requirements\nDemonstrated commitment to safe work practices, policies, and a Safety Excellence environment.\n\nDemonstrated commitment to Our Values: Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance, and Total Commitment.\n\nConsistently maintain high standards for safety and customer service.\n\nSelf-motivated and self-directed, with personal accountability for network projects and problem resolution.\n\nFollow through on all aspects of assignments to ensure timely, high-quality completion.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.\n\nAbility to navigate uneven terrain and active construction sites.\n\nAbility to work extended hours during outages, emergencies, and storm restoration events.\n\nThis position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.
