environmental programs, evaluating environmental data, ensuring regulatory compliance for various company business units and facilities, in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.This role involves ensuring proper characterization and disposal of various environmental media, working with various waste vendors, Environmental regulators (State and Federal), transporters, TSDFs, conducting site visits and providing on-site guidance for on-going projects, and providing recommendations to minimize environmental risks and promote responsible environmental stewardship.\nWork Responsibilites:\nCombination of office work and field activities.\nMay involve travel to facilities, project sites, or regulatory meetings.\nOccasional work in construction, utility, or environmental remediation settings.\nUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during field inspections.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, or a related field.\n Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance or environmental management experience.\nKnowledge of environmental regulations such as:Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)\nToxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)\nEmergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA)\nComprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)\nSuperfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)\nGeorgia Hazardous Waste Management Act \nOSHA environmental requirements\nDepartment of Transportation (DOT)\nSpill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Act (SPCC)\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nProfessional certifications such as:Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)\nCertified Environmental Professional (CEP)\nQualified Environmental Professional (QEP)\n\nExperience working with regulatory agencies and compliance programs.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWaste Management and Compliance\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.\nIdentify, classify, and manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste.\nCoordinate waste disposal activities with approved vendors and treatment facilities.\nWaste Characterization and Tracking\nEvaluate waste streams to determine proper handling and disposal methods.\nMaintain waste profiles, manifests, and tracking records.\nMonitor waste generation trends and identify opportunities for reduction.\nEnsure accurate labeling, storage, and transportation of waste materials.\nOperational Support\nInspect waste accumulation areas for compliance and safety.\nCoordinate with operations, maintenance, and other site personnel.\nEnsure waste handling equipment is properly maintained and used safely.\nConduct environmental inspections and audits.\nTraining Awareness\nTrain employees in waste handling procedures and environmental requirements.\nCommunicate regulatory changes and best practices.\nDevelop require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:\n Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated.
