This position will oversee statewide project management teams within Special Projects which include Interconnection, Department of Transportation (DOT), Physical Security, Fiber, Telecommunications, Transmission Grid Investment Program, and Work Authorization Request (WAR) projects.\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or related field\n\nAdvanced degree and/or PE/PMP certification is a plus\n\nExperience and Knowledge\nProven leadership abilities and commitment to Safety Excellence\nFormal supervisory experience with performance management responsibilities is a plus\n\nA minimum of 5 years combined experience in any of the following electric utility areas is preferred:\nTransmission Planning, Transmission Design/Engineering, Transmission Construction, Transmission Maintenance & Support, Transmission Operations, and/or Power Delivery Project Management\n\nProven experience in successfully managing internal and external relationships\n\nFamiliarity with project management principles and techniques including the Gated Process is preferred\nKnowledge of contract administration\n\nAbility to demonstrate knowledge of the transmission system, engineering principles, electric operating practices, construction practices, land requirements and regulations, budgeting, scheduling, and general business practices\nStrong ability to collaborate with PMO Leadership, various GPC partners (Land, Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction, Transmission Operations, Transmission Maintenance & Support, Transmission Planning, Capital Portfolio Manager, Generation, etc.) as well as outside partners. \nFamiliarity with regulatory, environmental and permitting processes is a plus\nSkills and Behavioral Attributes\nDemonstrates Our Values (Safety First, Intentional Inclusion, Act with Integrity, and Superior Performance)\n\nModels ethical conduct\n\nCustomer focused with strong interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to lead team efforts, identify critical paths, and resolve conflict\n\nLeads change effectively\n\nAbility to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients\n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including executives, management, supervision, covered employees, contract employees, business leaders, and customers\n\nStrong presentation skills with internal and external audiences\n\nDemonstrates ability to think strategically and help others do the same to drive strategic initiatives\n\nDemonstrates personal ownership and accountability\n\nAbility to understand project schedules, work plans, and budgets\n\nExperience with STOMP, TEAMS (Transmission Estimating and Management System), Maximo preferred.\n\nAbility to implement current and emerging project management practices to enhance the PMO’s effectiveness in meeting business objectives.\n\nExhibits strong initiative and ability to make difficult decisions with the awareness to get management involved when necessary and in a timely fashion\n\nAdaptable to internal and external demands\n\nAbility to develop creative solutions to solve problems and balance the needs of the Company and external public\n\nAbility to resolve conflict between individuals and functional areas\n\nAttention to detail and following processes and procedures\n\nHas strong ability to exercise diplomatic skills when working with customers to deliver on tight timelines, meet deadlines and be thorough enough to still produce a quality product\n\nEmbrace utilizing technology in their day-to-day activities and functions\n\nUnderstand that after hours response is occasionally required due to customer needs, project scheduling, storm restoration activities (DAT), and other unforeseen reasons\n\nFoster an inclusive culture where employees feel valued and create a team environment of trust, engagement, development, and continuous improvement\n\nAdditional Information\nApproximately 25%travel will be required for this role.\nSouthern Company expectations are for all employees to report to a company facility or work site a minimum of four days a week.
