As part of our response to Awaab's Law, we are expanding our Damp & Mould team and are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Damp & Mould Specialist Decorator to help us improve the living conditions of our customers and protect their health and wellbeing.\nThis is an opportunity to make a genuine difference by delivering specialist damp and mould remediation works, restoring homes to a high standard and helping to prevent recurring issues. Working closely with Damp & Mould Surveyors, Property Inspectors, Housing Teams and trade colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring damp and mould cases are resolved quickly, effectively and safely.\nWhat You'll Be Doing:\nAs a Damp & Mould Specialist Decorator, your responsibilities will include:\nCarrying out mould washing, sanitisation and treatment programmes within customers' homes.\nUsing approved products such as Pura, fungicidal washes and anti-microbial treatments in accordance with safe systems of work.\nRemoving mould contamination from walls, ceilings, woodwork and other affected surfaces.\nApplying specialist stain-blocking products, including Zinsser, prior to decoration.\nCompleting mould-resistant painting and decorating works following treatment.\nUndertaking reinstatement works after repairs carried out by other trades.\nCarrying out minor plaster repairs and surface preparation to ensure a high-quality finish.\nEnsuring all treated areas are left clean, safe and ready for occupation.\nDiagnosis and Prevention\nIdentifying signs and causes of damp, mould and condensation.\nRecognising issues relating to ventilation, lifestyle factors and building defects.\nEscalating concerns where specialist investigation or intervention is required.\nProviding feedback to Damp & Mould Surveyors regarding treatment outcomes and recurring issues.\nSupporting the reduction of repeat damp and mould cases through proactive identification of root causes.\nCustomer Service\nDelivering an excellent customer experience at every stage of the process.\nTreating customers with dignity, respect and empathy, recognising the impact damp and mould can have on health and wellbeing.\nClearly explaining the work being carried out and expected timescales.\nKeeping customers informed throughout the duration of works.\nIdentifying and reporting safeguarding concerns, vulnerabilities or health risks encountered during visits.\nCompliance, Quality and Safety\nWorking in accordance with SNG's Health & Safety Policies and Safe Systems of Work.\nCompleting dynamic risk assessments before commencing work.\nEnsuring compliance with Awaab's Law, HHSRS requirements and company procedures.\nFollowing COSHH requirements and using PPE, specialist equipment and hazardous substances safely.\nWorking safely in environments where asbestos-containing materials may be present and adhering to relevant procedures.\nCapturing photographic evidence before, during and after works.\nMaintaining accurate records, job notes and evidence trails using company systems.\nReporting any property condition that could present an immediate risk to customers, colleagues or contractors.\nPromoting SNG's \"Everyone Safe and Well\" culture at all times.\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential\nProven experience in painting and decorating.\nExperience carrying out damp and mould treatment and remediation works.\nExperience using mould treatment, fungicidal and anti-fungal products safely and effectively.\nAbility to repair plaster and prepare surfaces for decoration.\nStrong understanding of damp, mould, condensation and ventilation issues within residential properties.\nAbility to identify likely causes of damp and mould and know when escalation is required.\nExcellent customer service and communication skills.\nExperience working within occupied homes.\nAbility to maintain accurate records, photographs and supporting evidence.\nGood understanding of health and safety practices, including COSHH and risk assessments.\nFull UK Driving Licence.\nDesirable\nNVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Painting and Decorating.\nExperience working within social housing.\nKnowledge and understanding of Awaab's Law.\nExperience using mobile working technology and repairs management systems.\nUnderstanding of ventilation systems and building defects associated with damp and mould.\n Asbestos Awareness training or experience working safely in environments where asbestos may be present.\nIf you are an experienced decorator with a passion for quality workmanship, customer service and improving homes for residents, we'd love to hear from you.\nJoin SNG and help us create safer, healthier homes while supporting our commitment to Awaab's Law and excellent customer outcomes.\nJob Description\nWe have some great benefits at SNG, including:\nTool Allowance\n\nUniform & PPE\n\n25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays (with an extra day every year up to 30 days)\n\nChance to buy or sell holiday as part of our flexible benefits package\n\n3 additional wellbeing days and 2 paid volunteering days\n\nEnhanced maternity/paternity/adoption pay\n\nGenerous matched pension scheme up to 12% and Life cover at 4x salary\n\nA van and fuel card for business travel\n\niPhone and iPad\n\nSmartTech - Buy an electrical item and pay it off through your salary over 12 months\n\nAt Sovereign Network Group, we are passionate about inclusion for all and creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.
