The team is globally distributed.\nThe Impact\nYou will set the technical direction for the enterprise developer platform that engineers rely on every day. By architecting integrated solutions across source control, CI/CD, cloud, identity and security tooling, and by scaling self-service capabilities, you will accelerate engineering productivity while keeping the platform secure, governed and reliable.\nWhat’s in It for You\nYou will lead a high-visibility platform engineering function tied directly to company strategy, working with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, AWS, Terraform and Backstage. You will have the opportunity to lead CI/CD migrations and platform adoption strategies, build and grow a team, and collaborate with security, SRE and engineering leaders. We support your growth through innovation projects, training, cloud certifications and knowledge sharing.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the platform engineering roadmap, architecture and delivery from design through production. \nLead, mentor and grow a team of engineers; set technical standards and review designs. \nPlan and track delivery across multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, risks and stakeholder communication. \nDefine platform metrics and use them to prioritise investment and demonstrate value. \nDesign, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling across GitHub Enterprise Cloud, Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub Actions hosted runners to ensure reliable, fast and secure software delivery. \nAdminister and evolve GitHub Enterprise Cloud, including repository governance, branch policies, access controls and enterprise-level configuration. \nManage the repository lifecycle (creation, ownership, archival) and enforce version control standards (Conventional Commits, semantic versioning, branching and PR standards). \nDrive the internal developer portal and self-service strategy, including service catalogues, templates and self-service workflows. \nProvision, secure and optimise the AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudFormation/CDK) that underpin the developer platform. \nIntegrate security, quality and artefact management tools into developer workflows with minimal friction. \nOwn and operate AI-assisted development tooling, including GitHub Copilot, Cursor IDE, developer agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations, driving adoption, measuring productivity impact and scaling usage across engineering teams. \nBuild automation frameworks and developer agents that eliminate toil across identity and access provisioning, onboarding, environment setup, compliance checks and routine platform operations, in partnership with security and IT teams. \nPartner with engineering, security, SRE and architecture teams, divisional DevOps/TechOps teams and BISOs to enforce guardrails and keep the platform governed, reliable and operationally ready. \nProduce clear documentation, runbooks and enablement material to drive self-service adoption and reduce support burden. \nWhat We’re Looking For\n8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE or infrastructure engineering roles. \nStrong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud (administration, Actions, hosted runners, GHAS) and Azure DevOps. \nDeep expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and automation at enterprise scale. \nStrong understanding of the repository lifecycle, Git workflows and branching strategies (Conventional Commits, semantic versioning, trunk-based/GitFlow, PR workflows). \nProficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK) and configuration management tools. \nSolid experience with AWS services, including compute, networking, storage, IAM and container orchestration (ECS/EKS). \nUnderstanding of CMDB and ITIL-aligned change management (change requests, approvals, audit trails). \nExperience building or extending internal developer portals (Backstage, Port or similar). \nFamiliarity with ServiceNow (workflow and catalogue configuration) and data platforms (Databricks or equivalent). \nStrong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, TypeScript/Node.js). \nStrong communication skills with the ability to influence adoption across engineering teams. \nNice to Have\nExperience leading CI/CD migrations across platforms. \nExperience working in regulated environments. \nExperience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor IDE) and developer agents/MCP integrations. \nHands-on experience building developer productivity metrics and dashboards (DORA, SPACE frameworks). \nContributions to open-source Backstage plugins or IDP ecosystems. \nExperience with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation for platform infrastructure. \nFamiliarity with compliance-as-code and policy engines (OPA, Sentinel). \nCertifications in AWS (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD). \nTechnical Environment\nDevOps & CI/CD: GitHub Enterprise Cloud, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions & Hosted Runners, SonarQube, JFrog Artifactory\nAI Developer Tooling: GitHub Copilot, Cursor IDE, Developer Agents, MCP Integrations\nInternal Developer Portal: Backstage, Port\nCloud & Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CDK/CloudFormation), Terraform\nWorkflow & Data: ServiceNow (Service Catalogue, Change, CMDB), Databricks (Data Lake)\nAutomation: Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Bash, REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, SQL databases\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree or higher in a technology-related field.\nWhat’s In It For You?\nOur Mission: \nAdvancing Essential Intelligence.\nOur People:\nWe're more than 35,000 strong worldwide-so we're able to understand nuances while having a broad perspective.
