This role is focused on supporting data onboarding, pipeline support, and basic platform activities. You will work under the guidance of senior team members to assist with routine tasks related to data pipelines, integrations, and cloud-native data platform operations. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role suitable for someone starting their career in data engineering or looking to develop core skills in a modern data platform environment leveraging AWS.\nResponsibilities:\nData Onboarding & Support\nAssist in onboarding new data assets to the enterprise platform following established procedures.\nSupport existing data pipelines by monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance.\nHelp ensure data quality and consistency during onboarding and ongoing operations.\nFollow documented processes and checklists to support data ingestion and transformation tasks.\nSupport data storage and processing using Amazon S3 as the core cloud storage layer, ensuring data is organized, secure, and accessible.\nSupport metadata management and data cataloging using AWS Glue Data Catalog to facilitate discoverability and governance.\nAssist in implementing data validation, quality checks, and lineage documentation.\nWrite and maintain Python scripts and Big data processing enginestransformations for data ingestion, processing, and automation tasks.\nPlatform & Pipeline Maintenance\nSupport the team in maintaining data pipelines, fixing issues, and implementing small enhancements.\nAssist with data validation, metadata tagging, and basic lineage documentation.\nHelp monitor pipeline health and escalate issues as needed.\nSupport operational activities such as deployment, testing, and routine monitoring.\nContribute to automation of deployment and operational workflows using AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools.\nCollaboration & Documentation\nWork with senior engineers to understand platform standards and best practices.\nDocument onboarding steps, pipeline configurations, and operational procedures.\nCommunicate effectively with team members and stakeholders about progress and issues.\nOperational Support\nParticipate in production incident response and troubleshooting.\nSupport routine deployment, testing, and monitoring activities.\nContribute to team knowledge sharing and documentation efforts.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience in data engineering, data support, or related roles.\nBasic knowledge of SQL, Python, and Big data processing engines.\nHands-on experience with programming in Python or similar languages for data processing and automation.\nFamiliarity with cloud data platforms such as Databricks or similar.\nUnderstanding of data onboarding, data quality, metadata, and lineage concepts.\nHands-on experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, AWS Glue Data Catalog, AWS IAM, and AWS CloudWatch.\nGood problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExposure to data pipelines, data onboarding, or data migration projects.\nKnowledge of Delta Lake, Iceberg, or similar storage formats.\nBasic understanding of data governance and security principles.\nAny relevant certifications or training in data engineering or AWS.\nAbout S&P GlobalDow Jones Indices\nAt S&P Dow Jones Indices, we provideiconic and innovative index solutions backed by unparalleled expertiseacross the asset-class spectrum.
